I'm in the process of waiting for my new Ruger New model single six .22 caliber to come it to the local store where I bought it. I had planned on putting a Bushnell red dot scope on it. I just found in one of my dad's gun draw (he's almost 86 and doesn't hunt anymore) not one but two tasco 3x20 pistol scopes in excellent condition (they were actually mine at one time, had them on a TC contender pistol, now sold) He's given me these scopes. Is this 3x20 scope overkill for a .22 revolver ? Should I maybe try and trade at the store am buying the revolver for a red dot scope.I did notice they also had a new tasco 2x pistol scope ($175).
These scopes I just found today are almost twice as long as the red dot scope I was planning to put on,5 inch vs 9 in with these tasco scopes. So what would you do,the length of the tasco scope bothers me a little,I'm planning on taking the set up along with me on many hikes and hunts through out the coming years.

For 200$ you should be able to pick up a Burris or Leopold. Thats what I recomend and you'll never regret it. Good luck

thanks Tim but I don't want to put any more money into things, already have more in then then what I thought I would. I wonder if a swap of a new bushnell red dot scope (the one that has both red and green color, retails for something like $90-$100) for one of these 3x20 tasco scopes ?!
