I intend to explore this amazing rifle's true potential for accuracy by installing diopter rear and front sights. The optic itself will be from Gehmann. I'm 66 years old and wear bifocal prescription glasses.

What brands do Europeans use on their K31s? How do they mount the diopter optic and its elevation/windage base on the receiver of the Schmidt-Rubin K31 rifle? I know there's a company in Montana that markets a K31 no-drill mounting base.

Gehmann's catalog has a wide variety of lenses and filters. Some have 1.5X magnification. Having never personally used or even seen a diopter sight, how do I make an educated choice?

Thank you for your assistance !

Great idea. Unfortunately, all of the Diopter sights that I saw when I was looking for my own gun were very expensive ....$350 - $550.
I went with a scope.

This will sound convoluted, becaue it is.
You might want to seek out a fellow on youtube; "Bloke on the Range" (aka Mike B).
He is an ex patriot Brit who now lives in Switzerland. He has a long history with target shooting and is very active in the Swiss target shooting community. If I remember rightly he competes with both a K-11 and a K-31.
His videos are a hoot. He's a character, too; most engineers who shoot are that way.

He's very communicative on facebook, and is very willing to help other shooters out.

Sorry, but the Swiss don't use telescopic sights on their K31s and neither will I. I know the diopter zero-magnification systems will be expensive, but that okay. I just need assistance selecting the proper Gehmann model and a no-drill mount for the receiver. Thanks for writing back!

I know The Bloke well, and have viewed most of his YouTube movies. I don't believe he'll provide one-on-one equipment advice, but it's worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll send The Bloke an e-mail.

The Swiss Rifles message board is the best place to research those rifles. Here is a thread about the Swiss Products diopter sight. Looks like a great unit.

Outstanding, Laphroaig! I now know what rifle I'll be concentrating on this summer. I still wonder what mounts European K31 shooters are using. Thank you for your guidance.
