Do Not Label Shotgun Shells!

I think the fact that fired on police is more damaging than labelling the ammo "For Cops"...

I'm here all week.

In all seriousness, I think zinj is correct - firing on cops is the Big Deal. Having your shotgun shells labeled (hey, maybe he just liked to be organized) is gravy.

Screw the old bastard.

That's about as "High Road" as I can get for a drunk idiot who tries to murder people.

If they had just shot him dead we wouldn't have to feed this scum anymore.

I'm all for putting him down like the rabid mutt he is.

sounds like the deputies exercised a lot of discretion in handling him. kudos to them.

Yeah, it's hard to believe they did not fire back at him.

Sounds like they knew him, at least in passing. Maybe they knew he was not all there.

I wrote the words "your name" on a shotgun shell that I had in my HD gun, so that I could say that for any person who breaks in and threatens me, I have a shell with "your name" on it.

I erased it a few days later, just in case I had to actually use it. I didn't want to risk having a jury that lacks a sense of humor.

Wow. If he wrote that on the shells in the context that he was going to shoot the police with them - He is a moron. However, I think his lawyer will actually use the "He meant they are for 'Law Enforcement Use Only,' I would bet a lot of money on it.

It is legally significant in the way that it show pre-meditation. More importantly, if he reloads, the prosecution will use that as evidence of pre-meditation.

How do I know this? My uncle was shot in the stomach by a deranged eye surgeon. The prosecution used the fact that the perp (eye surgeon) reloaded his own shells as evidence of pre-meditation. It stuck too.

However, the punk is out of jail now and lives in Missouri. From what I've heard he is trying to get another practice started and his license back. I'm all about people serving their time and getting on with their lives once they have paid their debt to society. In his case, it hasn't been done though.

His botched surgeries (it was gross negligence) left several people blind and others with severely impaired vision. My uncle, as well as several others, sued him and won. He claimed bankruptcy of course and never paid a dime to anyone. From what I understand, even though he has an income now, his future earnings can't be garnished. I don't know that for sure though.

Interesting article.

I had a friend that had a bullet he kept in a box in his room. the bullet had his name written in marker. I asked why he had a bullet with his own name on it, and his reply was

"I figure if I have a bullet with my own name on it, then nobody else will."

I always thought it was a cute, and yet ignorant mentality.

these deputies are from a very rural area of CA. it appears to me that the less urban an area is, the more the cops are really oriented to the "serve and protect" model of policing.

I once gave my roommate a 7.62x54R unfired round with his name sharpied on the bullet (the actual bullet, not the case).

He didn't find it as funny as I did.
