I was looking at reduced recoil ammo. With pink tips. Pink ear protection. Pink eye protection. Pink guns.

Pink AR furniture. Pink range bags. Pink revolver grips. Pink everything.

The question is:

Do women buy the pink stuff or do men buy it for the women in their lives? Why does it seem that everything reduced recoil is marketed to women and everything marketed to women is pink? Do women not like green or blue? I there a study somewhere that I should look at to better understand this phenomenon.

For the record:

I Glock ever produces a G26 in raspberry, I will snatch it up so fast it may set my credit card on fire. Pink, never.

All depends on the customer. I know my Wife and SIL had no interest in pink things when offered and seemed to think it was an almost insulting question. All personal choice in the end.

I don't put skulls and extra artwork on my rifles but many others like to, so again, up to each person I guess.

:uhoh: Pink has been popular for women lately, can't believe I'm first. :barf:

The wife likes pink. On guns, she thinks it's atrocious. The oldest girl wouldn't ride with her pink obsessed little sister if she could help it. Neither of them are drawn whatsoever to pink guns.

When my daughter went to her first gun shop at the age of seven or eight, she saw the pink guns and immediately knew (and told me so) that guns could be for girls, too. I had never told her or shown her that guns were sex specific, but seeing pink stuff at the gun shop made it clear to her, and very much excited her, that girls could shoot guns just like boys.

I call that a win.

I've seen it as a phase. My wife sometimes prefers pink (jogging suits, tennis racquets, handbags...) our daughters have seemed to lose the obsession in their mid teens. Lots of hunting gear has pink accents these days and while they all insisted on pink camo a few years ago (what, are you planning to take cover in a rose bush?) it's a big no-no these days. Pink AR stock set? Forget about it.

I've stopped even trying to understand women.

My wife has no interest in pink, but she does want her equipment to be identifiable from mine (like her uplula magazine loaders, one has a red stripe & the other is...pink). Making it pink is a simplistic marketing choice, & toy manufacturers do it too. Have you ever wandered down the toy isle for little girls? Talk about pink!

So:
- On one hand, I think colors for grips are silly. Pink, blue, purple, & even FDE & coyote tan. Black functions just as well.
- On the other hand, I like stainless and really like a nice grain-patterned walnut stock - birch would be just as functional. So in the end, it's just a matter of personal esthetics.

Not one of my wife's favorite colors (she much prefers coral and blue). My daughter could care less what color it is; just as long as it goes "bang" when she pulls the trigger and hits what she's aiming at, she's happy.

Imagine the horror of a BG realizing they were shot with a PINK firearm if they survived. And the comments fellow inmates would have when they found out.:D

IMHO I think it is mostly a marketing ploy with the impressionable sucked in. Not much different than Blaze orange camo clothing that is around to me.

My wife likes the pink pistol case I got her from MidWay and the matching pink ear protection from Browning. I'm pretty sure she prefers the "evil" look of black guns, but she likes color choices for accessories.

None of the ones that have me have ever asked for a pink firearm. If they did the answer would be "When do you want it ready?"

I have LOTS bigger battles to fight and if it ment keeping my family shooting with me, I'd gst them a rainbow one if they asked.

My group dropped in at a sporting goods store after the IDPA match yesterday.
The Lady amongst us bought a fishing rod and a sleeping bag.
Green.

I've taken many ladies down to the range and there have been several enquiries about pink guns but the most often requested colour is purple.

Yes, I know one lady who shows up cap a pie in purple, even the gun.
Problem is, you can't get all those different materials and textures in the same shade of purple, so it is still kind of a patchwork.

Not all reduced recoil ammo is pink, or marketed towards women, only Hornady's Critical Defense Lite is. Federal's and Winchester's are just marked reduced recoil. You have to look closely at the Federal box to tell it from the standard HST, and the Winchester is in a black box marked Train & Defend.

I get the point of not wearing blaze camo to the mall, but there's a distinct point in breaking the outline and visible shape instead of using solid color with safety wear as well, considering the wavelengths most common game animals can distinguish.

Why are you asking us? Why not ask the sales and marketing guys who are enjoying their bonuses for having increased their companies' sales numbers with a bone simple color option?
