But... but... They all look the same!
And they all have the same manual of arms and fire the same…reliably, without fail. They are the Timex Watch and the Energizer Bunnies of the gun world. I’d take a Glock over any other semiauto made in a heartbeat.

I have more than a few. My nightstand gun is a Glock 22 Gen 3 in 40 S&W with a Glock light attached. It is full of Winchester PDX1 180 grain hollow points. I have a Glock 41 in 45 ACP, as well as a 30s in a holster in my truck as my “carjacker special”.

I think they are beautiful and great to shoot. To me they are the AK-47 of pistols. I bought my first (Glock 23 Gen 3) when I came home from Iraq in December of 06. I still have it and recently got my first Gen 5 another Glock 43. I have the required 17 and 19. I also have Springfield Armory and S&W plastics. I love them all!! Lol

G17 and G19 seemed redundant. They are almost the same size. If I could find a G17 Long Slide the 34 would be gone.
I'm confused. First, the 17 and 19 are most definitely not "almost the same size".

The 19 is notably smaller and more compact compared to the 17. Those numbers are huge in regards to a carry gun.

Second, you say that you want a 17L and that you would gladly take one over a 34. Why? The 17L and the 34 are nearly identical, the only difference is that the 17L has a barrel that is roughly half an inch longer than the one on the 34. Yet you called that same difference in length between the 17 and 19 as being nearly the same. So I guess I'm just not getting the logic here.

You asked for my reason and now you argue with my personal opinion?

I didn't ask for your reason. Someone else did. I just read your personal opinion and it made no sense to me based on the technical specs of the pistols in question.

You literally said there is little difference, size-wise, between a compact carry pistol and a full-size duty pistol. That made no sense to me. Then you stated that you wanted a 17L instead of a 34, yet the barrel length difference is the same as between the 19 and the 17. Again, that makes no sense to me. I didn't mean to offend you. It's a crazy world out there these days and very little makes sense to me lately.

I definitely recognize the man's contribution to the semi auto firearms world. They are excellent pistols. I have never owned one because they just don't suit my personal preferences for feel, pointability and manual of arms. My oldest son is a big fan and we often give each other a hard time about our preferences.

Numbers on paper can be deceptive. When you compare the 17 and 19's side by side in your hands, they really arent all that different.

While the grip on the 19 is slightly smaller, its also cramped and annoying to me, and I can sorta get a proper/decent grip on it, but my pinkie is in a bad and uncomfortable place, kind of on, kind of off, and I cant wrap it under the mag like I can on a 26 and it bugs the crap out of me. The 26's grip is more comfortable to me than the 19's.

The difference in slide length between the 17 and 19 is really nothing as well. And the 45 falls into that same boat too.

I think a lot of it too is just a personal perception of things. The 17's and 45's are like a GM 1911 vs a Commander, which is something like 3/4" shorter (the 45 is 1/2" shorter, same as a 19). I have both versions of the Colts, and have just always preferred the Commanders over the GM's. Theres absolutely no difference in how they carried and were concealed either.

With the Glocks, I prefer the 17's, especially over the 19's. I have no troubles carrying them, and if I were to carry one of my 19's, it would be in the same exact holster I use for everything else.

These days, Im carrying a 45MOS, simply because I cant get a 17MOS, and as silly as it is, the looks of the 47's bug me and I have one. Its that GM vs Commander thing again in this case. If the 17's were still available MOS, Id be using one of those. The 47's are now supposedly the way Glock is going, MOS-wise anyway.

Personally, I think Glock is starting to get caught up in the "SIG (and a few others) 'infinite but similar' Syndrome" when it comes to the number and types of models and I don't think that's a good thing, but, whatever. As long as they don't stray off too far with the basic/classic models I prefer and use, and don't compromise things with all the other crap, who cares.

Lol dad and I both like Glocks so I find this funny...

Ive gone into the river a couple of times while kayaking and canoeing wearing a 1911, and while no big deal, the Glocks make dealing with the aftermath later on a WHOLE lot easier. :)

Not that the 1911's are a problem, just a bit more work to tear them down, and more stuff to go wrong if you neglect things.

Yeah. I didn't mention it but I am a classic DA/SA Sig fan boy but he really likes his Glocks. I call the 9th month of the year Sigtember and he calls the 10th month Glocktober. We have a lot of fun with it.
Yeah a sig p220 would be a nice addition to the collection but I've got a nice 1911 and Glock already...
