Buying three pounds of H110 every time I want to load 400 rounds of .460 Mag is getting expensive.

I have a chance to pick up some military pull-down WC820 powder at a good price. Do any of you have experience loading .500 and/or .460 using WC820? How did it work?

Eddie, I tried some of the WC 820 in my 44 mag Ruger SBH. It's burning rate is a little faster than the H-110 that it's supposed be most like as for burning rate. IIRC, the loads were about 2.0 grains UNDER what max is for H-110. It was 5 years ago, don't know if I still have the notes, but I doubt it. But since it IS pull-down surplus, some lots might be a bit slower.

If you would be satisfied with a bit less than max performance, I'd say get it!;)

I am also looking for a source of 1 pound container of WC820. I found some good reloading data on the s & W 500 from John Ross using WC820. He lists geting 1900 FPS with 400 grain bullets in an 8 3/8 inch barrel.

Does anyone has a source for WC820 in 1 pound cannisters?

Thanks,

Ron

Loking for a source of surplus WC820 powder

Can anyone with excess WC820 willing to sell a pound or provide a source for a 1 pound cannister?

Sincerely,

ron

Sorry I can't help with WC820 but are you buying H110 in 1lb jugs? If you buy in 8lb jugs you will save a considerable amount of money. I've seen 8lbs of H110 for $108.50 which is only $13.56 a lb which isn't great but better than $20+ for the 1 lb jugs.

If you already buy in bulk, (which you probably already thought of) sorry for the post...
