Does anyone have any idea where to find powder?

I mean, come on...this is getting absolutely ridiculous! NO powder, anywhere!

Has anyone heard anything? What about the Accurate Arms and Ramshot powders? Alliant? Anything at all? I'm specifically interested in the Pacific Northwest.

good luck, I look at gunbot.net many times a day. When you do find some powder, buy as much as allowed to offset the hazmat b.s. shipping charge.

be safe

No powder, limited primers which are overpriced, no 22LR ammo, limited handgun ammo and no SD ammo for handguns and the list goes on. I'm usually not a conspiracy theorist but it sure looks like it's more than less supply than demand to me. It's going on way too long now for it to be that simple.

I really believe it is simple demand. The current political climate has resulted in hundreds of thousands (or millions) of new shooters purchasing firearms and ammo in an unprecedented "now or never" environment. They basically have come to the realization that if they think they may ever want to own a firearm, then they better get one (or more) NOW. And of course, a gun without ammo is not particularly useful, so they are buying up ammo, too. Add to them the casual shooters who have been unable to find/purchase ammo in the quantity they would like to have on hand, and similar numbers of those casual shooters are taking up reloading to try to assure a decent availability of ammunition for themselves. Add to those the already handloading who missed the handwriting on the wall when Obama was first elected, who are also now trying to stock up to ensure adequate ammo in the future, and you have this perfect demand driven storm. I believe the distributors that say they have shipped more product than ever, and still are unable to keep any on the shelves. Expect supplies to improve only when prices rise sufficiently to quell demand. Until then, like the rest of us, grab whatever you can at prices you are willing to pay whenever you find it.
At least, that is how I perceive it.

If the powder companies told you how Obama's agency orders were going to be filled, they'd have to kill you.

Powder, primers and bullets available here, just spotty. Shelves are not fully stocked but fortunately what I need is available. No 22's though.

It stinks but the only way I have been able to keep stocked up is by making large orders when it is available. About 14-16 months ago I placed a $400 order when powder valley got some Alliant stuff in and then again last month, I dropped another $400 at Recobs to do it again.

I know not everyone is in a position to do that but buying 1 pound here and there only seems to work if you can find it locally and I have seen virtually no powder where I am at either. Trying to order 1 pound on the internet becomes expensive really fast with hazmat and shipping.

In order to get the stuff I did, I had to check powder valley and recobs several times each day and I pounced when it came in. If you wait too long, it is gone.

My opinion is that the shortage is still demand driven. Like many others, I wasn't even reloading 2 years ago and those who do reload seem to buy many times the amount of supplies they did a few years back so that they can ride out these bumps. I am quite sure that .22 is also demand driven. The same people who used to keep 1 or 2 extra boxes around now have shelves full of it and gougers are doing a pretty good job of buying up everything they can get their hands on. At some point all of the closets will fill up and things will settle back to a normal level... though I think the days of $20 a brick are over.

I started to reloading 9 months ago because I couldn't find 9mm ammo at walmart or any other sporting goods store. I could buy ammo from a range but it was limited to two boxes per customer and some places you had to be shooting it at their range.

Most of the guns shows around metro Atlanta seem to have most powders, even Varget! But, be prepared to pay. $27-$35/lb. vs. old price of $19-$23 at gun shows.

I haven't seen any powder around here except for the oddball stuff no one wants, for a year now.

It's getting really old and I'll be relieved to see some hit the shelves again.

Primers I can get at normal prices even yet but bullets like xtps are so spotty that I've given up looking and order plated bullets on line.

I think the answer to your question is the fact that their are 1000's or 10,000's of people out buying as much as they can because if they don't buy it today it will not be available tomorrow... All this does is artificially inflate demand. The powder compaines have no incentive to increase capacity because once people realize they have 10x what they need they won't purchase any more for years.
I found some IMR 4227 yesterday at Scheels. It was $29.99 which sort of suprised me, but I bought it anyway. I had been looking locally for a good magnum pistol powder for at least 3 months with no luck. I could have bought 3 cans of it but that seemed silly to me.

Any day now, be patient. It's been coming in here lately. FME powder shows up here before they get better online. Certain bullets were the only exception. Cast and Plated were online first and Jacketed were here first. YMMV.

I haven't seen any problem with finding powder at all. I may have to wait a few months for it but it comes in before I run out.

Quit buying 1 lb containers and buy in bigger volume, I've been doing that for 20 years.

There is powder where I live, not always the most popular ones and only in 1# jugs which I refuse to buy, but it is available. You might try getting on backorder lists at your local gun clubs and gun stores

Same here.
Powder is there, but you may have to do a little experimenting.

I use Bullseye, Unique and 231/HP38 but none of that is to be found. I picked up a pound of Autocomp and traded a guy for 2 pounds of SR7425 I believe it is. Everything I read says both are good powders. We'll see.

I was lucky to find some powder to order when Recob's and Natchez had what I was looking for in stock. But then I had been looking for powder for a while before I found some to resupply with.

As for primers - they are available locally and have been for a few months. :)
