Does this kind of optic exist?

I have an over/under Mossberg Maverick 12 gauge and adapters to shoot .22 and .32 from it. The adapters are accurate, but the issue I have is the POI is way off the POA and I cannot adjust the sights, however there is a pic rail I could mount an optic to. Since I have the ability to remove the adapter and use both barrels for 12 gauge, I would like an optic that can be zeroed for the .32 adapter but has a secondary setting that I can press a button and change to a zero for the shotgun.

Does such a thing exist? A red dot or holographic sight that has multiple settings for different zeroes?

How about a reflex dot on and offset mount for the shot, and something like a 2x (ish) for the pills mounted on top? Or a speed bead mounted with an ar cowitness type optic?

If you take your insert and put a witness mark on it so you can clock it in the bore say at 12, 3, 6 & 9 does that have any effect on POI?

How far off is “way off” and at what distance?

I’m having trouble picturing an optic on an O/U shotgun. How and where would you mount it? I like the idea, I’m just stuck on how to do it. Perhaps some of the magnetic beads could be useful to make POA and POI closer. Especially if there is a way to offset the bead which will block the factory bead and push the magnetic sight off to one side or the other. Alternatively a reciever sight that is fully adjustable would be nice but it may take a custom mount to put it on the gun.

Mossber maverick o/u tactical, hs12 i think is the model number.
There is a pic rail at the back of the barrels that doubles as its "rear" sight.

Might be able to use a receiver sight and a higher front, then a dot for the inserts.

Does it have a bead? Maybe you just use that for the scatter gun stuff and use a QD mount with whatever you want for the other stuff.
No, front fiber optic and the rear is a slot machined into the pic rail. Could do a QD mount, but I also have two pic rails on each side of the barrels, 3 and 9 O'clock, so I could use 45 degree offset sights, just the front sight would have to be backwards.

Last I remember it was low by 6 or 8 inches at 15 yards, aiming off paper didn't help with the groups. Windage was good tho.

I think it's a twofold issue: first being the barrel regulation isn't great and the other is the weight of light .22 and .32 bullets is not in agreement with fixed sights meant for shotguns.

I don't recall indexing the adapter at all, it was more a "in which barrel did the insert shoot better" test. I eventually decided it was too much a PITA to remove the insert from the bottom barrel, so it only sees use in the top. I can try an index test in the future, but I get the feeling that's going to affect the windage more than the elevation.

I'm not sure what you mean about receiver sight and the front sight isn't coming off. The issue I see with an RDO is there may not be enough adjustment to set a zero for the .32, but I have been given evidence that makes me think a heavier projectile (.45-70) can shoot closer to POA and that's the direction I'm looking at going now.

I don't know that for a fact tho, not in my shotgun at least, so before I seriously consider getting the .45-70 insert I want to know what's available for an optic that I could use for both .45-70 and 12 gauge.

If it ends up that I have to run an offset 45 section of rail and put a RDO on it to effectively shoot .45-70 and leave the stock sight system in place for 12 gauge... I guess that's doable. Not ideal tho.

Might try a larger backer board at have a repeatable aim point 6 or 8 inches above something where you can see group size.

I have a triangle file that I have sanded the teeth off one side so it is “safe” (can’t remove any metal) it is 60 degrees from a cutting side. With this I can install a fiber optic dovetail front sight (I like Dawson) and a folding adjustable rear.

Do you have a photo of the configuration of your barrel/rail?

I have a inexpensive green/red dot. The red dot hits higher then the green. Unfortunately also a little Left. I don't think it would be too hard for a company to make a optic with a calibrated difference between 2 colors or independently adjustable.
I realize this doesn't help you but it would it it existed.
