Does your local wallyworld carry 9mm JHP's? Just curious.(probably a stupid question but, oh, well)

Mine does. I test the stuff in all my 9mms in case I need a large amount of JHPs at budget price for whatever reason. Stockpiling and constantly running Hydra-Shoks and SXTs can be cost prohibitive.

There are 3 WalMarts within a 10 mile radius of eachother here. If I have an afternoon free I hit all three up.

"Hi, do you have Federal 12ga 00 buck in the golden box and Winchester 9mm 115 grain in the 100 packs?"

"Uhh I have 8 boxes of the Federal and 15 boxes of the Winchester. How many do you want?"

"All of them."

"Uhh...ok. I'll triple bag them."

:D

Well, I saw WWB FMJ, Win Silver tips, Remington of some sort and UMC last time I was in Wal-Mart but I could be off as I wasn't specificly checking 9mm. This is in Kansas City BTW.

I always look, but hae never seen any hollow points at the wally worlds near me.

Which Wal-Mart is that Black Snowman?

The Wally World I buy ammo at (we have 3) has 9 mm JHP's. They carry Winchester, Remington. and Federal ammo. The sporting goods department manager is a hunter and shooter.

All sorts of JHP's available in 45, 40 and 9mm. Cheap WWB, Hydra-shok's, plus a couple other brands............

I use the 9mm value-pack for targets and the cheap Winchester Personal Protection stuff for my carry ammo. (Hey, that stuff is actually pretty good - especially for the price.) I can afford to stock up as well as shoot even the PP Winchester stuff at Wal-mart.

To answer the question, my local Walmart does carry 9mm JHPs but I learned a long time ago to stock up as they are often low/out. For a long time I would buy 1 100-round value pack and 2 50-round boxes Win PP ammo every time I went into the store. (After about a year of that I now have a decent stockpile and have done a lot of shooting too!)

At least here it is a bad idea to pack up and head for the range with all your ammo coming from a last-minute Wal-mart purchase.

"My Walmart" carries them but in very limited quantity. Or did carry them when I was last there about 6 months ago. The manager once told me that they "tried not to keep more than a box or two of any given caliber/type on hand". On more than one occasion the clerks staffing the Sporting Goods desk made strange and even rude remarks to me when I purchased ammunition from them. When I asked if I could pay up front with my other purchases, one clerk responded "Sure, just as long as you don't shoot the place up!" Such friendly, good natured banter. I complained to the manager both times but didn't put a lot of effort or emotion into it.

But this is just one of the reasons why I don't do Wally World any more.....

Yeah mine does......I was wondering about the stats on that "personal protection" stuff....anybody know.......?

Yup I guess mine did, too. I asked them how many they had.( 2boxes hydroshocks, 3 boxes winchester) so snatched them up plus some fmj's also. My only problem is that yesterday I went out to the range and shot it all except one mag full of Hydroshocks. :( Now I am going to have to get more.:D
