"Dog" Chapman arrested and to be extradited to Mexico?

If I snuck into Pakistan and captured or killed Bin laden and made it out with him alive do you think the U.S. would honor Pakistan's request for extradition? While I'm not a fan of dog and what he did was illegal with the amount of cooperation we get from Mexico I agree that we should tell Mexico to buzz off.

He broke the law, time to face the consequences. I'm glad the US meets her extradition treaty obligations.

What about the guy Dog 'kidnapped' why the heck wasn't the US or Mexican gov't interested in apprehending him??? I don't dispute that he may have broken Mexican law, but this one offends my sensibilities. Accused RAPIST flees to Mexico, no one was interested in getting him, but the guy who brought him back, oh well he is terrible ... give me a break!!!
That is like in one of the "Death Wish" movies when the cops come to take the old guy's gun who has it for self defense, never mind the savages who commit actual crimes.:cuss:

Well our wonderful goverment wouldn't kill Talibans at a funeral this week but they could kick in the door of American citizens to turn them over to a foreign goverment. Perhaps all the GOP apologists on the radio and TV will take this up like they did the Elian Gonzalez case.

Mexican law enforcement and US Agencies regularly work together down here to catch criminals. It's popular for criminals to flee to Tijuana here because many of them are Mexican-American and think they can blend in. They are almost always caught by Tijuana's finest and sent back to the states.

Awhile back Mexico was refusing to extradite people who faced the death penalty. That has changed. A couple months ago, Mexican authorities helped catch a cop-killer who had been on the run for a long time.

I'm thinking Dog's extradition might be a "good faith" gesture. After all, he did break the law. I've mentioned before that Mexico is extremely harsh on Americans who commit the smallest infractions down there. Getting busted with a single round of ammunition can land you in prison. What Dog did was pretty f'in bold. I'm scared to Jaywalk down there .. lol

I'm scared to Jaywalk down there .. lol

Too bad the real criminals (not jaywalkers) aren't too scared to kidnap innocents by the thousands for ransom in Mexico. Maybe if the authorities were more interested in these kidnappers their citizens wouldn't be fleeing for the US in droves.

Before an American citizen is handed over to Mexico, we should present the Mexican president with a list of all the Mexicans who committed crimes in the USA - up to and including murder - and inform them that Dog will be arrested and extradited as soon as they clear up the list and hand over all the Mexican criminals they're protecting.

(BTW, why didn't the Mexican government hand over the guy Dog allegedly snatched? Did the guy pay someone off in the Federales?)

MSNBC/A&E...

This is why I wish I had A&E and MSNBC on my cable system! :banghead:

I miss the A&E series; Dog the Bounty Hunter. I really miss watching his wife Beth, :D .

From a fan standpoint I think it's bad that Chapman and his family members got busted by the USMS/Mexico. Dog had a great TV show and did a lot of positive things for his community. That should work towards the efforts to clear him and his brother/son.

From a legal/LE standpoint I can see why Mexico/US DoJ-State Dept would want to push criminal charges on them. If Dog jumped bail I'm sure it made the federal police mad.

I hope the HI elected officals or the US State Dept can smooth things over with Mexico and clear this mess up.

For Chapman to go to Mexico and sit in jail over this BS would be wrong.

Mex is a third-world stinkhole full of angry US-hating mestizos.
(kind of like downtown L.A.)

There is no law in Mex. that isn't bought or coerced.
(see above)

Dog needs lawyers, guns AND money!

Maybe we can have a prisoner exchange or something.

They give us back Dog.

We'll have a combined sweep of Home Depots in the southeastern United States and return about 10,000 of their refugees.

Sounds fair to me.

...And one of these days he and his idiot bunch are going to try to take down the wrong guy (like he's already being sued for doing) and that guy is gonna start shooting these crazy mall-ninja looking dummies assaulting him. I just hope the poor schmuck doesn't go to jail for it...
I thought the same thing after watching an episode of that idiotic show. Jeez, I'd feel totally justified in shooting if a pack of biker-esque individuals, wearing tactical gear and wifebeaters, started screaming obscenities and running towards me.

I hope he isn't extradited to Mexico. Doing such would be to subject him to a cruel and unusual system, and no doubt it'll be a decade in el carcel before he can even get a trial.

Luster was a serial sex offender who actually video taped himself raping drugged and unconscious girls, then fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution (leaving the tapes for the FBI to find). As I understand the case, the bounty was quite high, everyone knew where he was, and U.S. law enforcement was very slow to act. So Chapman tracked him down, grabbed him, got nailed by Mexican LE on the way to the airport, and the Feds took Luster home to trial and convicted him.
We have a system where we dangle these perverse incentives in front of bail bondsmen, and in this case, I'd call it a pretty much optimum result, ecept that it made officialdom in general look bad. It's not like the judge who decided Luster wasn't a flight risk faces any consequences.

who wouldn't skip bail from mexico, or at least bribe there way out.

He prolly could have figured out something more clever than what he did, but if you watch the show it's not the clever kind.

they also could have just as easily called his lawyers instead of the full swat treatment.

As silly as it all is Andrew Luster is a huge scumbag, if it weren't for justice for the victims I would have supported the CIA blowing up his cabana with a Predator UAV, even though I think the CIA is silly and armed drones aren't fair play. Luster chose not to play fair either. I could care less about his civil rights in Mexico. I wonder what his "rent" was where he was staying, Mexico prolly would have found him quick if his payments were late.

wasn't there another rich kid who fled to Switzerland to go skiing before coming back?

Why do so many of you support Duane Chapman just because he is an American?

He is scum. He killed a man and should not have been out of prison. He is scum just as much as the crapbag he brought in. Except he was not punished as he should have been. Hopefully he will get a taste of justice just as the guy he brought in is as well.

I don't like him or his wife

or his family....but....sending him to Mexico when the wealthy
corrupt dirtbags that profit from all the corruption in Mexico
want to put a fellow American in jail for "kidnapping" the max fator
rapist is beyond belief.
That dirtbag raped women and filmed it for his entertainment....
He had more then enough $$ to pay yet he got his jollies by hurting
people....his method was using rophynol to drug his victims, you can get that stuff over the counter in Mexico , did they think he wouldn't do the same over there to Mexican citizens or tourist from other countries??

Shaft(2000)-Dog

I think some members here are confusing Luster with the bad guy from Shaft(www.imdb.com , 2000) :p .

Really why a USMS SWAT or SOG unit was used to arrest Chapman is another strange issue. :scrutiny:

A major reality TV star who is well known for aiding law enforcement and is never seen insulting cops or fighting with them does not justify that kind of treatment. CNN reported that Beth Smith(Dog's wife) was very upset with the events and I would not blame her.

GO DOG!
;)

He is scum just as much as the crapbag he brought in. Except he was not punished as he should have been.
i dont know the facts here cause i have never seen the show nor wish to. but it does seem hes trying to do good in the world now. maybe he feels bad about his past and is trying to even out the karma before he checks out.

i have a good friend who was such a a-hole when he was young that he goes out of his way to help people now. he feels he owes the world. hes a funny guy really. maybe this dog guy is like that.

Some more info, apparently 12 armed US Marshals took the door at 6:00 AM. Another fine overuse of tactical teams, really was this guy that much of a threat to them.

Right or wrong this guy was a fugitive from justice*. Last I heard rounding up fugitives was one of the things the USMS was supposed to do. And by default** if not definition people to be extridited are fugitives. As for the number of marshals, consider that three people were arrested that makes it four marshals per person. Considering the fact that if the Chapman family had chosen to resist it could very well have taken more than that to subdue them I honestly don't see twelve as an overuse of force. And for all they knew he could have been that much of a threat.

*There are very few concepts as far from each other as justice and Mexican law IMO.:banghead:

**I'm not sure if default is the word that should be here.

I can't believe what i'm hearing...

That some of you actually say things like "He broke the law, he deserves to be punished," in this case, is very disconcerting.

Let's look at the facts.

He caught a sex offender and delivered him to justice.

Said sex offender was "connected" with people in Mexico, which is the only reason Dog was charged with kidnapping in the first place.

He escapes bogus charge from corrupt government.

And people applaud when he's delivered by OUR PEOPLE to these criminals?

So when the feds ban guns completely, you're gonna applaud the people who get arrested for not complying? After all, they ARE breaking the law!

As for him being a scumbag because of something he did in 1977... boy, that's amazing too.

The man was punished, and he's been trying to do good in his community.

Is he stupid? yes. Does he have questionable fashion tastes? Yes. But those of you who applaud him being delivered to mexico on the charge of kidnapping a ****bag and delivering him to feds...

You make me ill.
