Oh please. GOA doesn't have certified instructors because it was Larry Pratts scam. Larry Pratt spent FORTY YEARS as Executive Director of GOA.....and his grifting mirrors Wayne LaPierre. The only difference between the two is the effectiveness of each organization. The percentage of GOA's revenue that went into Larrys pockets was far greater than the percentage of NRA revenue that went to Wayne. Both should be embarrassed.GOA won't do it because certified instructors goes against GOA's core mission. Certified instructors support the idea that gun ownership is a privilege, not a right. GOA promotes that you, as a gun owner, has the right to own guns. GOA partners with instructors that put on a good product and promotes them. But GOA will not create their own "this is our lesson plan, it is this or nothing" certification system.
GOA has never actually had education as part of its mission. It sponsors no competitions and no educational programs.
While the stench of WLP and Charles Cotton disgusts me, the GOA is equally repulsive......and spends a greater percentage of its revenue stuffing the pockets of its board members.
To see the nastiness in print, one just has to register for a free Guidestar account. There you can see a "nonprofits" IRS Form 990.
GOA's Form 990 for 2022
Same here in Texas. But it wasn't NRA instructors.....it was instructors certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Being a "certified NRA instructor" is not required by the State of Texas to be licensed as an instructor by Texas DPS.In FL, permitless carry faced major resistance from certified firearms instructors. You want to know why? Because permitless carry ate into their profits. And a certain lobbyist who has a fondness for cats was against permitless carry too since it ate into her organization's profits since the majority of CCW instructors were certified through her organization and that was a money printing machine.
I'm not an NRA certified anything, but tell us why thats worthy of ridicule?Mind you, the certified instructors that put in those classes did it with a Heritage Roughrider, .22 shorts, and a buckey of sand, all in a convention center or hotel conference room.
In my Texas LTC class, held in the back room of a gun store/gun range, there were no firearms present because the curriculum doesn't have the instructor demonstrating anything with a firearm.
