Vigo County, Indiana is flooding right now and we need your prayers.
It is still raining pretty hard too, though thankfully it is off and on with drizzle in between.
My house is currently high and dry but there are many on my street that aren't.
Early the morning the phone rang, the police were telling us to stay in our homes, state of emergency in Vigo Co and if we had pressing needs, dial 911.
Last night we had some of the most horrendous thunder and lightning I have EVER experienced in my life.
It had things rattling on the shelves like an earthquake, some hits were so close I was genuinely afraid the house would suffer a direct lightning strike. I spent the whole evening in prayer and when the phone woke me up, I was flat out on my stomach, face down. I guess I passed out praying Like I said, I was scared and I personally like storms. This one however wasn't fun, admirable, awe-inspiring nor anything but humbling and terrifying. This was the type of storm that reminds you just how fragile we humans really are and how easy it is for us to get damaged. I think by now you all get the picture.
Then the phone woke me up and I found out I was atop an island! There are a bunch of fish swimming in the waters around my house too. I think this is mostly the Wabash river in my front yard and the back yard in the once small lake that has now grown to meet up with the Wabash, somewhere down the street from me.
I have already been to as many of my neighbors as I can get to to make sure everyone is OK and seems like we are all fine. Everyone has food and water for now too and the power is on for now as well. I hope it stays that way too as there are a lot of older folks on my street and I don't know how well they'll do without it. Some of them need it for medical conditions.
I have yet to see a boat of any kind on the "streets" of Terre Haute but I am way south and I am sure someone is out an about, maybe the police have boats. It is still raining too. We need that to stop pretty soon too so the the river has a chance to recover some. I hope it stops soon.
Here are some clickable thumbs of the area around my house...
My Driveway (above and below)
These next few show the back yard where the lake has risen
Had to take these next ones out my front window because I couldn't get to this part of the yard without wading.
Well, that gives you some idea of what is going on here. I hope things are better where ever you are, please keep us all in your prayers. I know the Good Lord will take care of me no matter what happens. Though it seems good or bad to me, it is all according to His plan and that is the way I like it.
