In a Glock 19... can I use a Gen 4 barrel on a Gen 5 Glock 19 pistol?

Some have said no.... but looking at the replacement barrels for sale it appears Glock 19 barrels are exactly the same for the Gen 4 and Gen 5 model. I am a bit confused.

Can I use an old Gen 4 Glock 19 barrel on my new Glock 19 Gen 5 pistol?

Thanks in advance.

Gen 5 failed the plunk test....with some Federal hst 147 grain ammo. But all was good with plunk test with Gen 4 barrel.

It may be more cost effective to simply swap barrels (use a gen4 barrel).... Or sell the Gen 5 and buy a newly produced Gen 5.

Any Glock 19 barrel will fit any gen 19 you can probably find one for 50-75 if it bothers you keep your original put up

yes, the Gen 5 barrel is tighter than the Gen 4 barrel. That is why it is more accurate. If you have factory ammo that fails, then you need to check with a size gage to make sure that it is a barrel problem or an ammo problem. My guess is that you need to send the ammo back as defective.

Out of one box of Federal HST 147 grain, one cartridge failed the plunk test in the Gen 5 barrel. Using the exact same cartridge it passed the plunk test in a Gen 4 barrel.

My guess is that it was a cartridge that may be slightly out of spec. Due to the tight chambers of the Gen 5 model it raises the question if it is trust worthy .. because the tolerances are so tight.

It seems that I may have to did the plunk test for every round that I plan to carry in my Gen 5 model... And that is a pain in the neck to do.

I plan to either just simply use the Gen 4 barrel in a Gen 5 gun or the other option is to use as 124 grain ammo instead of the 147 grain. I am assuming that the 124 grain ammo will have a slightly shorter overall length. (Please someone correct me if I am wrong with this assumption.)
