I'm considering options for 1377 that I'm adding a steel breech to. I've read that the red/green dot sights don't work well for folks with poor eyesight. I've also read you need to have both eyes open. This is a problem for me since I have a damaged left cornea and leaving my left eye open blurs my vision. I found out a peep sight doesn't work well with one eye closed either. Anyone know how these dot sights work for people like me? I ordered the steel breach with the LPA rear sight so that's a back up. I've also read the LPA sight runs out of vertical adjustment(down) and requires some tinkering to correct it. I've already got a scoped 1377 and was looking for a different optic although I wouldn't rule out another scope.

You don't have to use a red dot sight or a peep sight with both eyes if your eyes aren't up to it. I've used one eye only on red dots and aperture sights on occasion with good results. It really depends on my vision at the time.

The best way to find out if your eyes can focus on red dots is to actually look through red dots. When my eyeglasses prescription is off, red dots are blurry to me.

I use reading glasses for anything closer than about 1 metre, and find a red dot tends to blur out a little. Didn't a few years ago, but aging happens. So when I shoot with a red dot mounted, I wear my reading glasses. Simple enough solution.
