Double Action Trigger Only: To "Stage" or Not??

When you say "slow fire competition", are you referencing Bullseye matches? I've been competing in Bullseye events for over fifty years and I can tell you I've never seen a dao revolver in competition. Too, when using da revolvers, almost every serious competitor fired the slow-fire phase (ten shots in ten minutes) in the sa mode. There would be little reason to "stage" a da revolver to get a lighter trigger pull (the only reason to do so, as far as I know) when all you have to do is cock the hammer.

Staging triggers was used in PPC competitions among other places. PPC was where the great Python v Smith trigger pull debates raged.

I used to stage my revolver trigger when I shot PPC...because everyone did. The Python was easier because it stacked smoothly (mine was tuned) and the trigger travel was longer.

The SIG 250 and SIG DAK triggers are pretty close to very good K-frame triggers. They don't need to be staged to get good hits out to 50 yards

I didn't know PPC events had a "slow fire" stage. In addition to lots of Bullseye shooting and "tactical" competition (including training and re-qualifications over a thirty year le career), I confess I've never participated in PPC matches. In any event, when shooting a da revolver I fail to see how staging the trigger (to get a lighter trigger pull) is superior to cocking the hammer and firing single-action, no matter how many other shooters did.

Consistency of firing grip and removing the temptation to jerk the trigger when the sight picture was "perfect"...were the two most common cons of shooting SA in PPC

Certainly not as slow as bullseye shooters, but of the Action Pistol sports:
Stage 3 - 24 rounds in 165 secs (2 mins and 45 secs) is pretty slow

Even the fastest stage:
Stage 4
- 6 rounds in 12 secs isn't fast
