Dramatic price drops in firearms

Well the only thing I've really noticed is that 12ga 100-packs at Wally's are still the same price, though they did have some Remington 550-packs of .22LR for decently cheap.

As to firearms, I dont really follow their prices too much unless I'm looking to buy one soon, though I did notice that they had alot of them in the 100s, (.22 rifles)

I was in my LGS today and the fellow I was talking to told me that they had been selling some guns at a loss just to get rid of them.
I was at the shop yesterday. They had five brand new long guns on a table at 25-40% below dealer cost.

One was a Beretta 686, 28 gauge. Beautiful. Their cost three years ago was $1,375. I can get it for $1,100. New dealer cost is over $1,750.

They also had a .45LC Lightning pump and a Weatherby....cheap.

Prices have dropped locally on EBRs, but not on other classes of guns ... and especially NOT on quality revolvers! I wish the price of S&W 629s would drop in the same way EBR prices have dropped ...

Is there any reason why they should drop? Did their prices spike sky high like the EBRs did during the panic?

The prices are still crazy high here. $200 for a stripped AR-15 lower (230-250 if it wan'st for boxing day sales). Stupid prices I know, and I don't think the dealers will lower these, they will take every penny they can from us. And now what, I NEED a stripped lower, so I don't have the choice but pay $200 for a brand lower. That and a $130 LPK, a $1000 M4 upper, thats **** I'll tell you. Oh and the U.S. won't ship any magpul stuff here. That's really the ****.

There are a bunch of local shops where I live and they have been having a mini price war. Glocks were $510 now 469$, LCP's went from $300ish to $269, LCR's went to $400 or less, SR-9's at $349 and a P95 for $269. Cabela's prices are still terrible though, people seem to be willing to pay them more. I guess they think it's worth the experience or whatever.

I have also noticed some price reductions in the West Palm area, but I don't think it is a voluntary thing by the gun shops but a neccessity for them to remain in business. When the prices shot up it forced the buyers to avoid the local shops because of their outrageous prices and to shop for private and on line sales. These past customers, myself included, quickly found that we were ripped off by the majority of the local dealers that we had supported in the past. I purchased three handguns and two rifles this year, but only one handgun from a local dealer because of their very high prices. It is very nice to be able to pick out a weapon and take it home the same day but it is not worth a +/- $100 to do so. There is no weapon that I need the same day so I will continue to avoid the local shops and save a few bucks........

A lot of guns never went up that much, so there's no reason for them to come down. I'm sure there were plenty of exceptions, but that's the general pattern I noticed

EBRs and AKs obviously did get out of control -- classic panic buying. If you look online, the prices have indeed come down dramatically.

That is not the case in my area. The majority of the handgun prices increased by at least 30 to 40% for the top line guns. Glocks and Springfields increased from $465 to the high $500's overnight for their existing stock and has increased from there. The garbage guns, IMO, Hi Point, Bryco and the like did not. In Jan 2009 I bought a LCP for $265 that same gun in March was selling for $350 to $400 and remains close to that price today.....

Question: What guns did not go up in price other than the POS guns?

You must not have checked lately. NIB LCP's are commonly going for $290 on GunBroker with many selling for $250 or slightly more and if they have the Crimson Trace grips they're selling for $430-$450.

I'm seeing a HUGE drop in prices of any gun that people thought would be banned &/or restricted as soon as His Royal Dictatorship took office. AR's that were $1400-$1700 in Jan. of '09 are now $800-$1000.

Around me (Northern Illinois), Glocks and Rugers didn't go up very much. To the extent they did, they're back down, more or less. Springfields didn't seem to change much either. Bass and Cabelas are big sellers around here. They've never been cheap, but also didn't jack their prices through the roof.

I saw gouging in two places: Gander Mountain and a number of the mom and pop stores that supposedly deserve our support.

guns

In 1960s I bought a new Highway patrol 357 for $69.my mod 10 went for $60
enfields $ 13,carcanos $7.50.bought 1911 from DCM for $18 and 1903A3 DCM
for $15, 1917 for $7.50.so prices have been going up at a steady pace.they may drop but not much.buying new $500,000 machines to make the new guns costs.

Three months ago I tried posting one of my FALs on GunsAmerica for $1200, just to see if it was real or hype. I got no real buyer inquires at all. The boom was over long ago, and the manufacturers are just starting to get the clue. But, and this is a big but, everyone in the industry knew this was coming and nobody, not even the pure AR guys like Rock River, added one machine or expanded their facility. Some companies added a third shift to meet the demand, but nobody changed their infrastructure. That means the boom was pure profit. Enjoy this while you can. Within a couple years Barak is going to be looking for another term, and if he looks like he might get it we are going to go through this all again, but next time it is for real. Slick Willy didn't go after guns until his second term and neither will Barack Hussein.

No pistol ammo at walmart tonight still. :(

The sale prices on Gun Broker do not include $25-$50 shipping fee or a $25 to $50 transfer fee. To test what you have stated I have made at least 25 bids on Gun Broker of $300 for NIB LCP's and I have not been the high bidder yet, all have gone in the mid to high $300's which does not include the shipping and the FFL fee. Gander Mountain had a Christmas special for the LCP---$349.00 or $376.69 out the door.
Most of the local dealers in my area also sell their products on Gun Broker and I am sure the auction selling prices are in line with what they sell their guns for in their shops.

FWIW:

I believe LCP's can be had locally for $299 +$21 sales tax. (Ga.)... So about $320.00 out the door.

Don't know if this is representative other places, I just looked at one in Hinesville, Ga (@ Mission Essentials gun shop). last week.

I "believe" Mission Essentials sells online via GunBroker, so anyone ordering one in that manner would have no sales tax to pay, but then you'd still have the shipping and transfer dealers fees.

I should think if ME can sell them all day long for $299.00 most folks would have a local dealer who could do the same, if he/she wanted to.

I don't think guns are going to be the problem...it's going to be ammunition. The government knows that there are hundreds and hundreds of millions of firearms in this country; the only way to control the populus is to control the ammunition supply. I have more ammo in my SHTF safe than most local sporting goods stores have on their shelves. I also haven't noticed much of a decrease in firearms pricing.:)

Cabela's prices are still terrible though, people seem to be willing to pay them more. I guess they think it's worth the experience or whatever.

I only buy something at Cabela's when they have the 'buy something and get a card activated' deal running... bought a NIB 92fs and got $150 of free over-priced goodies anyway. Usually works out pretty well, IMO.

I bought a new Ruger LCP about 2 months ago at a gun show in Georgia for $289 plus tax.

it cost me $1400 to buy a remington 7600 carbine at the start of the year, thats about $1360 for you guys given the exchange rate. and $35 for a box of 20 in 30-06.

how do these prices compare to your local gun store? if they bother selling pump repeater centrefires.
