Not a huge knife fan but do appreciate good knives. My dream knife would be a Bob Loveless. Looking at the prices it wouldn't be hard to understand. Decades ago I could have bought one for about $400. 00 but $400.00 was a lot of money back then. It would have been cheaper than the 2.5K they are asking now.

I paid $700 to have my custom to my specs Dream knife made by Steven Fowler 12 years ago , he used it as his Knifemakers Guild Journeyman test project. He will make me another for $3500 now he is a Journeyman Knifemaker's Guild member !

I "paid" Kevin of Mad Dog Knives $2800 to make me my "Dream" Mad Dog knife in 2019 , it took a year in the making and is my final Mad Dog from 20 years of collecting them. I made some money on them in the last 8 years or so. Behold the 10" x2" largest Voodoo Frog series "Ranasaurus Trump 2020" tribute :)

Bob Loveless died 2 Sep. 2010 at 81 years old.

The company bearing his name is a fine maker of knives, but Bob's hand isn't involved.

Knives that Bob actually made, like the one in my office, are closer to $5 grand and up in the collector market.

OTOH, there are knife makers that worked with him that make fine knives as well. And there are many fine makers today that can make excellent knives in the patterns Mr. Loveless designed. As pointed out we have members that are fine knifemakers here at THR that could scratch that itch for little more than the $400 neighborhood you'd have paid many years ago.

I want a good blade steel. Not stainless. Probably handmade. I can't seem to find any off the shelf knives I like.

I know a South African Maker who makes very pretty Loveless Tributes . Most of them are around $700 + shipping for a 5-6" "Chute Knife " and the sheathes are superb .Wesley Liversage, Ill have to look but I know he makes drop point hunters . I try to get back here and get his link. Here it is :

His profile and he specializes in Loveless Drop point Hunters ! 1702271411973.png

Dozier Thorn with the Titanium handle. I have a Dozier Arrow, which is essentially the same thing with a G10 handle, but the Thorn is still on the dream sheet.
