Drive-by shooting

Last night, (very early Tues. A.M.) , there was a drive-by shooting in my neighbor hood. Can't say for sure, but I think I heard it. About 2:45 I was awake. I thought I heard a poodle bark. There are no poodles in my area. I listened for maybe three minits, then go to a back window. nothing. Then I check the front. nothing. I'm up for another half hour. nothing.

This morning, I looked out front. A lady walking to bus stop is talking to young couple across the street.

Time for work...take the trash to the street and there is an Officer I have known for years. Thats when I find there were four shots through the passenger window. Small ammount of glass and some fiberous (insulation?)on the street.

Maybe he made someone mad...if they were just doing random cars...there were seven other targets on the street..they were not touched.

Don't worry. I'm not going to be a fool over this...I'm not running out at the first sound. I will pay attention for info only. I'm just concerned that this is just the prelude to a escalating series of nights! You know how things can go from "bad to worse" over time...and I'm at ground zero.

If there are more events I'll post them as "Drive-by #__"

Sounded like a poodle barking? That must be those Drive-by AK's or SKS we've been hearing about. They sound like a poodle when used in rapid fire.

Seriously, hopefully it's a prank or just someone ticked at one person. Don't park your car on the street.

Nono, if it was a poodle sound it was one of them AR poodle shooters.
Alright, really though, I'm glad you (it sounds like no one was?) hurt. The thought of shooting at anything as a prank, or even using a gun in a prank gives me goosebumps. I certainly hope these people (kids?) get what is coming to them.

So they just shot out somebody's car window? If no other cars were hit in the neighborhood it just sounds like a warning to me. It also looks as if they know who's vehicle they shot up, especially if they're the only ones.

I believe it probably is a prelude to the future. I had a similar incident in my neighborhood (my next door neighbor actually) about 4 years ago. No, I know of atleast 2 meth labs in the nieghborhood. These drive by shootings are rarely random, and usually a specific target is located at the house. The scary thing is though, that it is possible for them to get the wrong house, or hit innocents while firing.
Keep a close eye on what's going on in the area, and don't let your kids (if you have any) walk around alone. MOVE!

I'm guessing you heard what could have been gas-compressed automatic bb gun fire. Some of the opening valves in the compression systems could sound to a half awake person like the yap of a small dog, especially if the person was indoors and the valve was slightly scraping another metal part.
