I always have fun shooting my 22 rifles. Heck for that matter my 22 handguns as well. But shooting my Marlin 60's is just so much fun.
Sleek, accurate and reliable is what these gun are.
Been a companion for a very long time. And I can shoot an awful lot of 22 and not get bored. Who out there is a Model 60 fan?

One of the guns I will never part with! Bought one new in 1984 for less than $100. When my eyes were younger I could hit a spent 20ga casing just about as far as I could see it. Too many squirrels to count. It now has a 3-9x x 40 bushnell legend scope and a refinished stock. 20190616_145748.jpg

Here is my 1983 example. Long barrel and magazine.

Love my '82 model 60.
And Pop's Glenfield 99.

That Glenfield has had 10's of thousands of 22 through her. I just keep pouring used motor oil and wipe her out. She keeps chugging along.

I have a 1986 model that I bought used . I like the long magazine tube . It is more accurate than my 10-22 with the ammo it likes . My 10-22 will shoot a wider range of ammo more accurately .

I no longer have a Model 60 but still have my Model 70 made around 85-86 along with an old Model 99M1 (with original rear sight). I have always preferred the Marlins ergonomics and out of box accuracy over the Ruger 10/22.

And with any older Marlin semi auto, check the buffer before shooting it. And replace the white buffer with one of the new black buffers.

Mine is an ‘80’s one too. I bought it as a “loaner” rifle so, my “good” ones didn’t get dinged up. It was $70 back before Kmart went antigun.

Keep it clean and it’s as reliable and accurate as many others that cost more. It’s still the only semiauto I keep out in the shop.

M60. Load tube & shoot all day long. Mine was a basket case, from the owner that took it apart. After replacing the missing parts, it was very accurate.

Shooting an 8" steel plate @ 100 yards, off hand, great competition with friend with his M60.

NOTE: Had to rezero after cleaning. The action never went back into the stock, the same way twice.

I have 2 Glenfield model 60s. One is set up with Tech Sights and the other with a Nikon Rimfire II scope. They're a little finicky on ammo, but are both accurate and reliable with their preferred ammo.

Had a Kmart Glenfield that was stolen when I was in college. It replaced a Winchester 190 I sent down the road. I hated my 190, it was truly a POS. Replaced the Glenfield with a standard birch stock Model 60. Eight years ago put an Arrowdodger trigger in it. A few months later I bought a CZ 512 and haven’t shot the Model 60 since. I’ve always liked Model 60’s better than 10/22’s.

I share your feelings about the Winchester 190. The only reason I still have one in my safe is because it was the first rifle given to me by my Grampa. If it wasn't for the sentimental value, it would be gone. The only advantage the 190 has over the Marlin rimfire is that the 190 will feed and shoot shorts, longs, and long rifle.

Mine was a Christmas present from an aunt. She gave her blessing to get rid of it, it was so obvious it was a POS.
