Electronic Ear Muffs

I'm researching electronic muffs for a group of friends.

Our criteria:

• Around $100, maybe up to $150
  
  
• NRR rating of 22dB or more -- higher is better
  
  
• Excellent amplification with no buzzes or hums
  
  
• Comfortable enough to wear for six or more hours at a time
  
  
• Sturdy enough to stand up to frequent use

We are all handgunners, and don't mind bulky. In fact, some of us might prefer bulky because that tends to provide better hearing protection.

What brand and model are we looking for?

A number of people who know good gear have tested them side by side with Peltors, and actually preferred these for a number of reasons. Santa knows I want to find a pair under the tree this year.

'Doorkicker', who started the thread, is a recent combat vet who likes nice ($$$) gear, and doesn't cheap out on much. If he says the these are just as good or better than the more expensive stuff, it's because he likes it better, not because he doesn't want to put down the cash.

Donnie at Big River Tactical is a good guy, too.

I have had a set of Dillon muffs for a couple of years and like them a lot.

Especially nice is the external battery compartments and separate level controls for each ear.
Some other brands require tearing the stuffing pads out to get to the battery compartment.
