I am really considering an EMP in 9mm, what has ya'lls experiance been with them? I currently carry a Sig 238, and a 637 Smith, and/or a Sig 1911, but kinda looking to get rid of my .380...nothing wrong with it, it actually is a sweet little gun, just the price of ammo for it pi$$es me off:fire:

Have one and love it. They are kind of pricey but nobody else makes one like it.
Bought 1 liked it so much bought a second one for daughter. Wife thought it was cute and that worked since I was wanting to buy one. It was for her but after she went to he concealed weapons class and tried a glock she wanted one of those instead so now Emp is mine and I am not complaining.

My thoughts:
Great looking gun, but a great looking gun is not necessary
-Size wise, it is heavy for its size, and for its size/weight class the ammo capcity is quite low.

High Weight, low ammo capacity coupled with a long handle make it not the best choice for CCW in my opinion.

But it looks darn good.

Also I found the slide release is hard to press to release the slide, without racking by the slide a bit, making reloads much slower. Not good for a low capacity gun.

I have a glock 26, ugly. But 1 more round available, much smaller, and it is much ligher. So in my opnion, it is far superior to the EMP in terms of CCW.

But the EMP does look good, right?

Edit: the emp is thinner than the glock, but I found that has marginal impact, as handle lengtj and weight have far mo impact for me.

If I opened carry, emp would be the way to go.

I that size, I think the EMP and the Kahr really own the market...it just depends on which trigger system you prefer

Their thinness are their major advantages over guns with with higher capacity. Here is a review I did last year that you may find interesting

While some folks think it's price a bit spendy, the build quality of the EMP really does make it a good value

Oh my,.....

The EMP in 9mm is OUTSTANDING! Best gun I own out of quite a few. Had mine around two years and NEVER the first malfunction through several hundred rounds. Most accurate out the box gun I've ever shot. Personally I find it great for ccw carry. The only things I've changed on mine are the grips, I didn't want to ruin my originals and just have ordered an Ed Brown single sided safety as I don't care for the ambi safety. But I just can not brag enough about this little gun! I'd be astonished if you got one and didn't love it!! Comparing the Kahr trigger to the EMP trigger is apples and oranges. I've had 3 Kahr's. All great guns, its just that :cuss: Kahr trigger. If you don't shoot a Kahr enough you just never get use to that LONG trigger pull:banghead:. All in all you can't go wrong with the EMP. It would be the last gun out of many that I'd ever trade off or sell.

just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you! :what:

Really like my EMP 9mm. I like the idea of down-sizing the 1911 proportionately to the 9mm. Fit and finish excellent. I also have a Para Ordanance Carry 9 and it is very similar in size, and has the LDA trigger for those who prefer that. I handled the EMP .40 but it is noticeably heavier.

I really like my EMP in 9mm and it has been incredibly accurate with both reloads and factory HP ammo. I had KS Customs in AZ do a trigger job on it and it has the best 1911 trigger I have ever personally owned. Light and compact, easy to carry, zero malfunctions so far. Highly recommended.

Expensive lil sucker!

And worth every penny! Have one in 9x19 and it rocks.

While the EMP is a lower capacity gun, it must be understood that the gun is in effect taking a standard 1911 and shrinking it down. That said, as someone who carries 1911s exclusively as my day to day carry, the EMP is an excellent carry gun. It conceals much easier than my Springfield TRP or Baer Thunder Ranch, it gives me 9+1 in the gun plus two spare 9 round mags on my hip as opposed to the 7+1 dual spare seven rounders I get with the TRP, Baer, or Wilson Combat, and it's lighter than any of the aforementioned the TRP, Baer and Wilson are all steel or stainless steel construction whereas the EMP is a stainless slide over a lightweight alloy frame. There IS a definite weight difference.

Comparing an EMP to a Glock 26 is about as far off from an apples to apples comparison as one could get. They are two entirely different animals, and of course the Glock 26 will be lighter, it does after all, have a polymer (plastic) frame and magazines.

If one were to make a more fair comparison between the EMP and something else, I'd say you'd have to go with something like the Sig Sauer P239 or Walther PPS. The EMP has the former beaten in terms of magazine capacity (8 rounds of 9mm for the Sig v. 9 rounds in 9 for the EMP) and trigger feel (10 lb DA and 4-5 lb SA pull for the Sig and a pretty consistent 5 lb SA pull for the EMP). I'm not sure of the specs of the Walther, but I know from the few that I've fondled in local shops that they aren't my cup of tea, hence the reason I did no further research on that model, I am sure, however, that for me the EMP is far superior as a carry weapon and that there is someone here more knowledgable on the specs of the PPS.

Honestly, in my book, the EMP is a great alternative for someone looking for a slim, single action only, subcompact 9mm for carry work. I use mine for carry during the summer months when it's a little difficult to conceal my full size TRP or Baer. I will digress, however, that my recently acquired Wilson CQB may take the place of the EMP as a summer carry as I prefer the slightly longer upper and the characteristics of the .45 round.

yep, it has MIM parts, pretty much all the small parts.

FWIW the price isn't that bad for gun, take a look at other small sized 9mm 1911's.

How much are you paying for 380 ammo?

i know .380 ammo is about $15 (50rds) for WWB at wal-mart around here.
The reason I asked is I purchased 1000 rounds of Federal American Eagle fmj from Ammoman for $289 and that includes shipping and there is no tax so it ends up 29 cents a round which I don't consider too much for good quality range ammo.

I see he is out of it now though.

Don't own one but had a chance to shoot one 2 weeks ago (9mm). Very high quality in my opinion and this one had one of the nicest triggers I've ever felt.

If you can afford it, get it! Then post some pictures.

My Uncle bought a Kimber Ultra Aegis in 9mm, and equipped it with a set of Crimson Trace...and I love that little 1911...I had a Kimber Ultra CDPII, loved it, but it just was alittle to lite for a 45 in my opinion, it moved too much, and I wasn't accurate with it. Maybe I'm alittle wimpy, but I am kinda thinking maybe the 9 is the next route.

Joshua,

I've had my EMP 9mm for a short time, and have been shooting with it once. So far, I love it. In that one range session, it was VERY easy to shoot quickly and accurately. The weight is not too much for daily carry, and the size is not too big.

You're comparing a single stack, metal, SAO gun to a double stack, polymer, DAO gun? They're not even in the same playing field, and not marketed to the same purchasers.

You point some advantages for the G26, all of which are true. Can I point out some for the EMP? First, trigger. No Glock trigger, no matter what you do to it, will ever be as sweet as a stock EMP trigger. Do a little work to the EMP, and the difference is even more pronounced. If you shoot better with a SAO trigger, if that's what you're used to and prefer, that's a big advantage in getting the EMP. Second, it's a 1911, and if that's what you're used to, what you shoot better with, then the EMP will serve you better than a G26.

A 1911 guy isn't very likely to want to carry a baby glock; and a glock/polymer guy isn't very likely to want to carry a 1911. So I don't really even see these guns competing with each other.
