Do any of you have recommended sources for cases, specifically 28 ga and .410? The Reloading forum is about 99.85% metalic based, so thought I might do better here. Thanks!

Most of the guys I know that shoot the 28 or 410 will just buy a flat or two of shells when they see it on sale and then reload the hulls until they no longer can.

Yeah.

Now and then you'll find one or two on the ground, or maybe a whole bunch, but with the petals completely burned off...:D

I've seen guys at the club that will use masking tape once the petals begin to crack with 410. A friend who reloads 28 gets as many as he can until the hulls start to crack, then he trims them and loads them some more with an over card and roll crimp.

Most skeet, trap, sporting clays ranges are great for 12 & 20 ga hulls but forget it when it comes to 28 or 410. I buy a case of 10 boxes and after shooting load them until they can't be loaded anymore. My O/U are pretty easy on them and I load light.

Check with the manager of the nearest club, sometimes they squirrel hulls away and will sell them if you're willing to take a second mortgage on your house......

As mentioned - spend a few bucks, buy yourself two or three flats of shells - (go in with others on a large mixed order and the prices aren't that bad) - then reload. I do not do 410, but I do reload 28 - currently getting over 10 reloads out of my AA hulls, so the initial cost is practically nothing for the hulls. Look at Gamaliel, Able Ammo and others for decent prices if you do not have a gun club nearby to get in on an order

Thanks--The nearest "club" in my country would be roughly 300 miles, maybeso more. I was afraid of the "purchase factory" suggestion. I may have to go there, but it's really against my principles! I'm well beyond 60 summers, I've shot a lot of both rifle, shotgun, and pistol over the years, and THE ONLY factory shells I have ever bought (excluding .22 Rimfire) were 16 gauge for exactly the same reason. Since 28 ga and .410 are used in skeet, I thought that there might be a market of once fired's. Back when I shot ATA trap a lot, I wore out an estimated 50K AA's and Fed papers (I'm talking each) and still never bought a loaded shell! I don't shoot a lot anymore, but I've still got 3 55 gallon drums full of once fired AA's (the old, American made ones), not to mention about 3K STS once fired, green and gold. I started collecting those when the AA hull quality went to hell. I reckon they'll haul them to the dump about the same day they haul me off to a hole. I've bought lots of rifle and pistol brass, and 10 ga and 20 ga hulls, but except for that 16 ga, no loaded ammo. The thought just hurts! I guess I may have to get used to it!

Gunbroker.com

You can find pretty much anything you want on there.

I tried Gunbroker, as I deal there a fair amount, but found nothing, not even 12 ga cases. Maybeso I was using the wrong search words. What did you use? I've gotten metalic brass there several times.

Thank you Mr Cooper! I just tried that, and bingo! I had tried things like shot shells, shotshell cases, cases, 28 gauge cases, but no luck. So simple when one uses the right search word! Thanks a lot!!!!
