Encore muzzleloader. FFL?

I think it has to be transferred via FFL. If a gun is built on a modern, metallic-cartridge-based receiver, it is legally considered a firearm by the ATF. Since the Encore was not designed as a muzzleloader, it falls under this definition.

Gotta go through an FFL if it accepts cartridge rifle barrels.

I had the same issue with my ML. I have a CVA Optima Elite and had to do the paperwork for that reason.

That’s what I wanted to avoid. The vampires around here suck $50 out of the wallet to do a transfer and then I have to pay another 10 for background check. Makes a good deal into not a deal at all. If I could buy the muzzleloader and then buy rifle barrel I would do it because I want both. I’m not feeding these vampires.

Also, if you can’t find a dealer who will do a cheap transfer, why not see if one of those dealers can order it for you instead of you ordering it online?

Most dealers who charge high transfer fees do so because they order and stock a lot of guns. That gets expensive. So they’d rather you buy directly from them instead of transferring through them. And often you can get them to sell you a gun they have (or can order) at roughly the same out-the-door price as if you ordered it online.

I doubt many dealers stock that firearm, so see if one can order it for you a price around $10 - $30 over an internet price. That will roughly match the price you’d pay including an average transfer fee if you bought the gun online. And when a dealer orders a firearm that’s in stock at a distributor, it usually takes a week or less to come in, so it should take about the same amount if time to get it as it would if you ordered it online.

I didn't know that page existed...and yes there's one on there that will do it reasonably who is about 30 minutes away. All of them in my county are confirmed as vampires.

In Il, just about anything that propels a projectile out of a barrel with air, gas, or powder of any color, other than sub 700 fps bb guns has to go through an FFL.

There is one TC muzzle loader that can be shipped direct as it will not accept other barrels It's a ML'er rifle only. Now a Contender or Encore has to go through an FFL as it can support all rifle and pistol barrels
