In another thread, the discussion was about firearm related commercials. I didn't want to hijack the thread, but I have a question about the opposite.

Instead of firearm companies that advertise on mainstream channels, I always pay attention to NON-firearm companies that advertise during gun related shows.

When I watch American Rifleman, or Shooting USA on the Outdoor Channel, I know I'm going to see Springfield Armory, Smith and Wesson, or Midway USA commercials. I was mildly surprised to see a Progressive Insurance commercial during Shooting USA one evening.

How does this work? Do companies airing commercials endorse programs, or is it just a network thing? Is Progressive Insurance paying money to a firearm related company that produces Shooting USA, or does their money go to the Network, or does DISH get the money? I would think that since their commercial airs during a gun related show, their sponsorship money is going towards that show, right?

I'm unsure how this marketing thing works, exactly, but all I know is I'm more likely to spend my money at a business that has no problem endorsing the firearms industry. This is why I pay very close attention to what non-firearm companies advertise on firearm related shows.

I can't think of any others I've seen at the moment, but as with boycotting anti-firearm related companies, I would like to support pro-firearm related companies. Is anyone familiar with any other non-firearm companies that support the gun industry? How does their advertising actually work? Do their commercials help us financially when they appear on firarm related shows?
