saw a sporterized enfield no4 mk1 for 139 at a local store, how easy would it be to get an a standard stock for it and drop it in? and is it worth the time/ money it was in perfect shape minus the bubba aspect

How sporterised was it? If they cut down the barrel and so on it be rather hard to put back to No4 Mk1 and not worth the expense. You can get a wooden stock from a number of places such as Sportsmansguide and if you need front sight parts a number of company sell them from aim surplus to springfield sporters, numrich etc.

A good project might be to cut it down into a No5 Lee Enfield clone. It be more expensive but with the added weight they make rather nice carbine scout type weapons and don't suffer from any zeroing problems.

im not very familiar with the enfield, it appeared to just have a sporterized stock, i dont know if the barrel or sights were changed i didnt ask

If it's been sporterized, it would be important to know if the barrel was cut, and if the sights are all in tact. You will also need the barrel bands and front sight guard, with the assorted screws. Look at Gun parts Corp for a picture, but go to Springfield Sporters for your parts. they will have everything you need to fix her up. Knowing absolutly for sure if it is a #4mk1 or a #1mkIII will be the first thing to determine.

Here are some pics of some of my #4's. I need a better pic!

Nice collection, Doug!
I have two Brit Enfields (a sportered #4 that had already been Bubba'd and a restored #5) and would love to get a nice Savage in original condition like yours.

Full', Thanks for the kind words. I bought that Savage when Inter Ordinance was selling them for $69.00 a few years ago! Wish I have bought 10. I am down to 12 .303's now, and only one duplicate, a pair of #4mk1 Fazakerly's. I love the Enfields! Sorry for the not so good picture.

You know, if I lived in Kali like you do, I would keep a #5 around for HD. 10 rounds of .303 can be a good deterrant!
