This will be unscientific, of course, but I am curious whether any actual user HERE on THR has had problems, other than Tony. Sometimes people "heard about" problems but it's just rumor.

If you've had major problems, please post a detailed description of when/what/how and any fix.

If you've used an EOTech in active military or in severe law enforcement usage*, please post your experience good or bad, in addition to voting. (* Severe LE usage = you use one regularly for SWAT or equivalent service, or you have one mounted on a rifle that rides in your patrol car 40+ hours per week and it also gets tested and used regularly even if not on duty; simply being an LE and owning one on a private gun does not qualify as severe usage.)

I bought my Eotech new when the only model available used 2 'N' batteries. Since then it has seen probably close to 10,000 rounds on my AR with no problems. I had to add the sight protector which is now standard. It's been dropped, rained on, snowed on etc. Still working fine.

That being said, I hate the auto-off and the fact the batteries seem to die at the most inopportune time. While I like the dot and circle reticle of the Eotech better than the Aimpoint dot, my CompML3 has been running on the same batteries since I bought it more than a year ago (and I never turn it off - experiment in progress).

If only I could get an Eotech with the battery life of the Aimpoint.

No problems here but I have shot less than a 1000 rounds through mine so it's not like I have used it a lot.

I view Eotech problem reports like I view Sig problem reports. They are few and far between (just like any other company) but due to the fact that Eotech is an expensive optic people have the tendency to think that QC will never have a flaw and will make a HUGE ordeal out of every flaw they find.

I've personally seen 2 Ref F units fail while shooting. The reticles went into the corner of the window and then went out. Replacing the batteries didn’t fix the problem but leaving the batteries out for 2 hours did.

I didn't vote because I didn’t own them, just saw the guys I was shooting with have the problem.

my experience is same as brian. i've personally seen a couple fail, but i sold mine before i had any issues with it other than having to replace the batteries a lot, and having it cut off on me.

I like it, it always works, but it uses batteries. That is fine at the range or on patrol, but not for HD. I like to grab and go, so I prefer the Trijicon...

I've got the AA battery model, battery life is not too great and the batteries are often dead when I take it from the safe.

Other than that I really like it.

No problems with both of mine, but I'm not using them in a combat zone. They've got a few scuff marks on the shield but never had one fail and haven't had issues with battery life (I do turn them off when done though).
I didn't know they've had any problems until I started hearing about it on the interwebz.

I've used mine for thousands of rounds, and as a sighting system on a duty weapon (which sees rain, snow, trunks of patrol cars, etc). I've never had an issue, and I've always found that (for me) this is the fastest sighting system to acquire quickly, especially in low light.

Had a problem with windage adjustments on my 557-sighted it in with a laser boresighter and was 'bout 3 inches to the right at the range. Was dialing it in, and just as I was 'bout ready to declare it good to go, it was suddenly off the paper to the left.

Burned way too much ammo before I figured out exactly what was going on-sent it back to 'em and they repaired it under warranty.

None of the normal problems that are reported, but it has led an easy life.
I hope the failure complaints are overblown as I just ordered an EXPS3-2! :banghead:

Works great on my AR platform. Stays in alignment and only had to change the batteries once so far. One minor complaint is the battery compartment lever can be a pain to get a finger underneath, but since you don't have to change them often it's a non-issue.

Have had zero problems with my 512 on my RRA. Love it and could not be happier. SUper fast target aquisition. Agreed on the battery compartment it can be painful on the finger nail, but you don't use it too much anyways. Love mine.

Zero problems on my bushy. Nothing beats an EoTech for CQB.
