Caliber you don't really like?

I don't really like the 9mm but I collected so much 9mm brass, and my oldest son has a 9 that I was forced to get one and to start reloading for the dang thing. Now I even cast bullets for the dang things but I still can't think of a time that I would pick a 9mm for any real purpose other than just plinking. Not for hunting or for self-defense, they just don't float my boat. But I have 6 of the dang things now. and several thousand cases. :(

Oh, and yes, I have a hankering for a caliber I don't particularly "like"... I have been lurking in gun forums for a while and reading lots of numbers on stopping power and such. I have never really liked .45 ACP and always thought it was a little silly what a huge following it had, but I wrote it off to nostalgia.

I also was kind of annoyed at what a loyal following the 1911 had, considering there are many newer and better designs today... right?? lol...

However, ever since I test-fired someone's 1911 .45, I have had the inexplicable urge to get one. I find myself staring at pics of Springfield mil-spec 1911's and drooling... Then slapping myself and saying, "You fool, it is a clunky, old, outdated design and an oversized, slow-moving, ballistically poor, expensive, impractical caliber! You don't want one!"

Yeah, I'll probably cave in and buy one soon...

What he said...almost verbatim:p
