Ever Rediscover A Gun You Love, But Kind Of Forgot About?

I used to go up and hunt every November until he passed in 2018.
The old guys in our camp have all passed, and I really don't hunt anymore. It was the fellowship, and knowing the terrain, and a terrible season if you didn't get a deer. Go to a buddy's place now, take a '92 for a walk in the woods, but it's the unluckiest deer in the world that gives me a shot.
In terms of things ignored, a bunch of us bought Tokarevs after seeing Enemy at the Gates, it's past time to get that Commie gun out and give it a run.

I've got a place in northern Arizona, but I miss hunting and fishing in Michigan. My cousin just retired from the Marine Corps after 30 years and bought a home in Mio on 100 acres, and is bugging me to come up and hunt his place next November. I may have to do it. Plus...even if I don't get a deer, I can bring back a 124 quart Yeti cooler full of Koegel's Viennas and Ring Bologna.

Like the OP, I rediscovered my duty gun. In my case it is a 1988 West German P226 that I replaced with a P229SAO after leaving law enforcement. She got new grips, new sights, and a Grey Guns trigger last year and runs better than new. Carry her every once in a while in a Galco Miami Classic holster.

Yes, one particular Dan Wesson 15-2 357 revolver. From the time I bought it gave me trouble. Never could get the trigger quite right but fixed a couple of other issues. I got aggravated and put it in the safe for a year until I took it to the range two weeks ago. It shot very well and I rediscovered why I liked them so much. Extremely accurate with an interesting history/ innovations and fine looking revolvers

Yep....got to showing a friend the safe a month or so ago and he was enthusiastic about my old .30 cal. Luger, A DWM made in 1920. It was a police gun, a GI bring back from WWll and we shot it for a hour on our home range. Amazing how that old barley corn front sight nestled into the notch rear and binked the 50 yard plate time after time...

Handling it brought back thoughts about Bill Ruger's original Auto and the similarities in grip style. Also noted the superb machining on the whole gun but especially so in the toggle mechanism.

I load for it...or did 30 years ago when I bought it, and still have a cpl hundred rounds of that 93 gr FMJ in the ammunition locker.

Looked through my pics and I guess I never took a pic of the old girl. Best Regards, Rod

Yes. it's my 1895 Chileno Mauser 7x57 I bought in '74. Had it pretty much custom sporterized and gave it to my best buddy before he moved to Idaho. Dave passed this last December and his brother brought that rifle and another one I gave to Dave back to Ca. It's the one on the left and I'm most certainly going to load for it again. thumbnail.jpg

That made me laugh; we have a local shop that produces amazing meat products, and we have folks haul it home from all over. We're a rust belt city, that has experienced the diaspora that affects such places, but former natives come back, and take kolbassi, or sheep case weiners when they leave.

A buddy just got a .30 Luger; he's a dedicated reloader, but doubt he'll load for it. They are an elegant piece of machinery; have a pretty presentable pre-WWII 9, matching numbers (save for the extractor; it was a little worn). It's just different from any other handgun.
In terms of reliable feeding, the bottleneck is a better creature.
