(Posted here because I'm not sure where else to put it.)

Walmart has 9mm FMJ Perfecta on sale for 9 and change per box. I passed because I've never heard of it. Anyone ever use it, is it decent 9mm plinking ammo, and is is excessively dirty? Your comments are appreciated.

It's in there....

The is Perfecta any good? topic has come up here about 3 different times.
But hey, what's one more topic, :D .
Like the 1980s spaghetti sauce ad says: It's in there. ;)

PS: member reviews have been mixed. I asked too about the cheap 115gr 9mm($10.95 USD for 50rd in my area). I decided to pass for now but might try a box or two when I can practice more this summer.

Yeah, works fine.

Shot a couple thousand rds of 9mil and .223

Fiocchi is making it for Tula.

This ammo is fine, but I'd rather shoot the Federal (Blazer) Aluminum case ammo when I can get it.

Walmart....

Since Walmart now has a big contract/order for it, Perfecta may have improved the QC or components for it.
Some shooters are saying the Walmarts near them have 9x19mm Perfecta for $9.95/box :D .

The aluminum cased "Blazer" ammo is actually made by CCI, not Federal.
I've shot some Perfecta .223 and 9mm., it functioned just fine (same goes for a couple freinds). I don't reload, so being brass doesn't do much for me, so I also prefer the $1 cheaper Fed/Alu 9mm, but it disappears off the shelves at my Wal-marts faster than the Perfecta seems to.
And yeah, from what I've veen reading, it is made by Fiocchi, and the vast majority of reports I've read from around the Interwbebz also give it positive reviews.
One of my Wal-marts still have it (9mm) at $10.97, but the other one has it up at $13 and change.

Thanks everyone, good to know!

I was worried that it would be imperfecta. Ha ha.

The aluminum cased "Blazer" ammo is actually made by CCI, not Federal.

Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) spun off its sporting group division in Feb. 2015 to create Vista Outdoor Inc., which now consists of companies and product lines including Federal, Speer, CCI and Blazer, along with some other shooting-related companies.

What Walmart (and AFAIK, only Walmart) is selling is Blazer Ammo, made from Speer bullets and CCI primers, in a Federal Champion (Aluminum Case) package. Retailers other than Walmart are still selling Blazer ammo. Walmart is the largest retail ammo buyer in the world so they have the buying clout to force Vista Outdoor to rebrand and repackage their ammo at a lower price so they are not competing directly with the other retailers' Blazer ammo at a higher price. Walmart has both its buying strategy with its vendors, and its marketing strategy with its customers, down to a science!

Just went through 5 boxes of Perfecta 9MM and one of Perfecta .45ACP last week. It all shot great, no issues, plenty accurate. My boy shot it out of a Hi Power in his first USPSA match and it worked exactly as it should have. I'll buy more.

OP read my mind. Walked by the slim pickings sporting goods display case at my local wally world the other night and saw Perfecta ammo. $7 per box of 50 in 9mm. They had some 223 but didn't get close enough to see price or quantity. Was curious about performance as well. Might grab a few next time through.

Wow! That is a great deal!

It's always worked fine for me. And I can buy 50 rd. boxes of 9mm ammo for $10 and some change all day long at Walmart. So I like it.

Just shot a bunch of it 2 days ago. The Italians make good ammo! No failures and every round sounded the same. You can tell when the brass goes through the sizing die as it is a little stiffer than all others.

I have shot about 300 rounds in the last 6 months. It is fine. Loaded and fired properly in every gun I ran it in. It is repackaged Fiocchi IMHO. You can tell because the bullet is not copper washed. They are the only manufacturer I know of that has brass colored bullets.

A friend showed up at the range with a couple boxes this morning. He made some comment about feeling like a traitor shooting ammo that was made in Bosnia-Herzegovenia.

I did not pay a lot of attention, as I load my own, and don't really care what he shoots.

He was shooting 9mm, .38 Spl and .45 acp, so I don't know which ammo was the Perfecta stuff, but I saw two empty boxes (plain cardboard, brown with black lettering) in the trash on the way out.

He did not complain about any malfunctions...

The Perfecta 9mm in my Glock 34 and 26 ran fine, the Perfecta 45 ACP my 1911 did not like for some reason, 8 FTF's, in 4 magazines, (Wilson 47D's) changed brands to American Eagle 230 ball, same gun, same magazines, no issues.

That was my experience, the 45 ACP in my XD 45 was fine.

I've shot two boxes of 50 count .223 thru my Mini-14 and AR-15 without any malfunctions here recently, I do believe I paid $18.95 per box, noted that it was copper jacketed 55grn brass boxer primed ammo therefore very reloadable. I noted that it wasn't any dirtier than my reloaded ammo, and shot respectable groups at the 100 yard range. Obviously not as tight as my hand loads, but acceptable per se.

Not soooo Perfecta.....

I jumped on the Perfecta Express and purchased 02 50rd boxes of pistol ammunition today, :uhoh: .
The Perfecta 9x19mm 115gr FMJ box and rounds looked a-ok, ;) but when I opened the brown cardboard USSR style box of 230gr FMJ .45acp, the cheap plastic tray came apart!
The QC and cases of the .45acp were excellent for pistol ammunition. No marks, dents or scuffs anywhere.
The Perfecta rounds in both boxes were fine, I'm curious to see how they shoot next week.
I'd add in fairness, I did the Walmart Walk for about 20-30min after buying the Perfecta rounds so the plastic trays may have cracked or broke from my carrying them around in a Walmart bag  .
If these Perfecta brass rounds perform well in my pistols, I might get a few MTM ammunition trays or cases for storage-range trips.

Oh well, as long as they shoot & reload ok.

I passed this week because I'm already in the dog house for ordering a brick of .22lr online. I'll check back for perfecta after the next paycheck. It sounds like good cheap range ammo.

Just ran 100 rounds of it through my PPX this weekend. Ran great. I'll echo what another poster has said, it looks like Fiocchi ammo to me.
