I just painted the grip backstrap and frame of my Walker with rust bluing solution. The first go didn't... well, go. I did it when it was too cold. Evidently nitric acid and metal salts turn green when they freeze. I got patchy rust from it, right where the frozen patches had been, but nothing worth working with. I sanded it off, and I'm trying again.

I decided to be bold and daring this time. The first attempt was just the backstrap, but I figured if I was going to do it, I'd better put something into it. So, the frame is hanging from a wire from my two-wheeler in the garage.

Here goes...

If the Walker has a case-hardened frame you might be in for some disappointment. Read somewhere that rust bluing solutions don't work on the hardened portions.

Oh well, if that IS true....you'll find out shortly!

Nope, all in the white.

And it did surprisingly well. A few thin spots, but everything at least took some kind of treatment. I'm up to a medium-gray now... only 10 more to go :)
