.
An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.
Robert A. Heinlein

I must admit that I'm not too fond of this one, particularly in the abbreviated form. It's too easy for others to think it refers to everyday manners, as if we would use guns to enforce "Please" and "Thank You." It's not about politeness, but civility. Not robbing and killing one another, the basics like that.

Two in the heart. One in the head. Makes sure they're dead.

Why a .45? Because they don't make a .46

STOP! ...or my mom will shoot!

Name three people a man can always trust. His God. His Dog. His Gun.

My favourite is from Henry Lawson

So I sit and write and ponder, while the house is deaf and dumb,
Seeing visions "over yonder" of the war I know must come.
In the corner - not a vision - but a sign for coming days
Stand a box of ammunition and a rifle in green baize.
And in this, the living present, let the word go through the land,
Every tradesman, clerk and peasant should have these two things at hand.

No - no ranting song is needed, and no meeting, flag or fuss -
In the future, still unheeded, shall the spirit come to us!
Without feathers, drum or riot on the day that is to be,
We shall march down, very quiet, to our stations by the sea.
While the bitter parties stifle every voice that warns of war,
Every man should own a rifle and have cartridges in store!

My Fav's:

"Overkill never fails".

- (Unknown, probably some demolitions guy. Presently, Wilderness Tactical)

"The Constitution doesn't grant me anything. It certainly doesn't 'grant' me my rights. All the Constitution does is restrict the government from passing laws that infringe on my rights."

- Ted Nugent

PTLAPTA

(Praise the lord and pass the ammunition)

Here are the original lyrics:

"Down went the gunner, a bullet was his fate
Down went the gunner, and then the gunner's mate
Up jumped the sky pilot, gave the boys a look
And manned the gun himself as he laid aside the Book, shouting

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free

Praise the Lord and swing into position
Can't afford to sit around a-wishin'
[or Can't afford to be a politician]
Praise the Lord, we're all between perdition
And the deep blue sea

Yes the sky pilot said it
Ya gotta give him credit
For a sonofagun of a gunner was he, shouting

Praise the Lord, we're on a mighty mission
All aboard, we're not a-goin' fishin'
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free"

.....from an incident at Pearl Harbor.

Bumper sticker "Keep honking... I'm reloading"

And I like this variation on 'Guns don't kill people'...

'Guns don't kill people, hotdogs kill people'

Not a single mention of the Henry Rifle's original tagline?
"The gun you load on Sunday and shoot all week"

Appreciation for higher capacity is not a new thing.

Another good one:
MrsBFD - Are you packing?
BFD - I can't remember, look and check, will you? (from across the room before heading out the door)

WOW no one posted this yet?

This is my rifle.

There are many like it, but this one is MINE.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life.

I must master it as I must master my life.

My rifle without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

I must fire my rifle true.

I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me.

I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

My rifle and myself know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire,

the noise of our bursts, nor the smoke we make.

We know it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life.

Thus, I will learn it as a brother.

I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories,
its sights, and its barrel.

I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage.

I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.

We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God I swear this creed.

My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country.

We are the masters of our enemy.

We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until there is no enemy, but PEACE.

-- Maj Gen WH Rupertus

and this one too (first verse only)

COME, my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready;
Have you your pistols? have you your sharp edged axes? Pioneers! O pioneers!
--Walt Whitman - Pioneers! O Pioneers!

An old grandpa once said, "Son, there comes a time in every
man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin'
knee caps. Usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass
whoopin'."

He goes on to say the following:

"I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from
being killed. I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun
because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because
there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I
have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun
because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I
don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be
prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun
because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk
somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun
because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun
because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun
because unarmed and facing three armed thugs I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love
life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the
crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old
to take an ass whoopin'.

Did you ever notice that the ones who want to have us lose our guns have
armed body guards? Wonder why that is?"

~ Grandpa Unknown

and just to end it with a little humor

Its not the bullet with your name on it that should concern you, its the one that says "or current resident"

I was debating whether or not to post this, but I decided why not?

I was on a forum the other night reading the 1,000,000,000th argument over .45 vs. 9mm/Glock vs. 1911, and I thought to myself "Why don't you ever hear rappers talk about 1911s?"

So, I took it upon myself to change that. Mind you, I've never written any "rap" lyrics before, so go easy on me! This is just some of it, the rest of it isn't anything to speak of, so I didn't include it.

"Yo man you want this glock? i need some rock and a few joints"
That aint no f----- glock, you kidding me? its a hi-point!
You must be out of your mind if you think that s--- will fly here
And even if it was, no thanks, I don't rock plastic gear

You want a real gun that makes your nine run away scared?
My colt 1911s vs. your glorified tupperware?
Ha ha! Oh man, now that was a good one! You really think plastic beats steel and wood, son? Call me old school, but practice makes perfect. That spray and pray s--- aint never gonna work, kid!
So bring your high capacity, I'll bringin my voracity, this single stack magazine is causing a catastrophe, go ahead and laugh at me, your slugs just keep on passing me, I'll be placing shots on you while yours are just harassing me.

I can't stand rap, but that's pretty good.

"Speed's fine, but accuracy is final." Attributed to a Texas Ranger

"That rifle on the wall of the labourer's cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there." George Orwell

"You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or use any other word you think will work but I've found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much the universal language." Clint Smith

Thanks. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of it either, but since I run a recording studio, and since most of my paying customers are of the genre, I've gotten used to it. Now, you won't find me listening to it on my own time, but I've learned to tolerate it.

I learned this slogan back when I was in AF K-9...

"Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty."

Bruce Campbell in "Army of Darkness"

My contribution: "Guns don't kill people, bullets do! Guns just make the bullets go really fast." -H. Simpson
The kicking ass and chewing bubble gum quote isn't from Army of Darkness, its from a John Carpenter film called They Live, with Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Not that it matters. Its an awful movie.

Slightly off topic but that time of year.

"Know how to write, thank a teacher. Do it in America, thank a veteran!"
