This was posted by Keith on Keith Morgan's FB page for The West Virginia Citizens Defense League. Expect a lot of exploitation of Sandyhook to elicit more emotions to keep the emotion fire burning and churning. As we know that is their only card as facts don't help them.

Ladies and gentlemen of the WVCDL and West Virginia. Today, around 3PM I met with Senator Manchin. In any conversation with a person of that level of power, there are two conversations that occur at once. The first is the obvious and direct meaning of what is spoken. The second conversation is the meaning between the lines. In this case, neither is good. West Virginia, in my opinion, you have been sold out.

First, let's talk about the direct conversation. It's very simple. Senator Manchin supports a three-pronged approach that includes universal background checks, including private sales. He supports mental health-care reform. And he supports magazine capacity limits, and possibly other restrictions.

Further, he stated to me directly, that he believes 75% of West Virginians, like him, believe that the only purposes behind gun ownership and the second amendment are hunting and recreational shooting. He told me that defense is not an angle he considers or believes in, and that is specifically in the context of defense of self, and defense from tyranny. Perhaps now you understand why I've been too angry to update you on the results of the meeting. In case you're thinking of stopping here, it gets worse.

Senator Manchin told me what the media will do if Congress (including the US House of Representatives) fails to pass an AWB and/or mag restrictions. "They will one, by one, put up pictures of dead children. They will show the carnage." Considering that tomorrow, President Obama will be exploiting children by dragging them on stage with him while he outlays his plan, this is not a huge leap. And these are the words of a United States senator. We, and I don't mean just West Virginians, I mean Americans, must prepare for this. That is a direct quote. Verbatim. We need every talking head in the conservative media out in front of this. Make it happen. Share this post far and wide.

When it became clear that we were not going to find common ground, and that Senator Manchin intends to support magazine capacity limits and other pointless gun-control laws doomed to failure, I told the senator that we would be there. We would be at every single event. We would be at every fund-raiser. We would be there, and the content of our signs would not be pleasant.

And now we get to the second conversation. The one between the lines. When I said we would be there, he said, "there won't be any events."

This confused me. No politician runs for office without fund-raisers and events. And I have to admit, it wasn't I that grasped the meaning of this. I want to be clear, that the following was not stated. This was deduced by a confidant of mine, and I think she is correct. Manchin was honest. There will be no events. Why would a US Senator not need funds? This is because there will be no campaign. Joe Manchin is too young to retire from a position of such power. What does that mean?

West Virginia, this means that Joe Manchin has sold you out. It means that he has accepted some position, likely promised by Barack Obama, to place his boot in your neck in exchange for power.

Now you know. Now you know why for four hours, I was too angry to update you.

yeah, they do. and I was about shouted down when I said as much during the election. lots of ''where's your proof'', and ''Obama's never signed any gun laws'', etc. I hope those people are happy with their choice.

@Kim, Well that is the attitude that will leave gun owners divided. The south has MANY pro Gun Democrats. The Blue dog southern Democrats are more pro gun than most know. The sad part is they are dying out. They are few and far between. I am a Democrat and I promise I am more active than most, and own many EBR's. I do not believe in giving an inch on the 2nd. Look at NY today, the bill passed was bipartisan.. So please don't judge all by the actions of a few, you might not like how you would be judged...

I agree about Obama. I vote Libertarian most of the time. I honestly feel that Obama will try to keep overstepping his power as much as possible..

Please don't think I mean any offense in my post, it just isn't right to lump all Democrats into one group.

Maybe not all but most. Mike Ross from Arkansas a pro-gun blue dog folded too. Although he did not run again. So he lied all those years also.

I hate to admit this....but I have friends that are Democrats. I ask them if they believe in the Right to Keep and Bear Arms? ''Oh hell yes''! they say. Do you believe in the Welfare State, say I ''Oh, hell no!'' they loudly cry. So, I ask, why are you a Democrat? Then they usually mumble something about ''oh, well, my daddy was'', or something, and I have to wonder if they aren't just badly deluded Libertarians.

I am a Democrat on because of other issues. I despise the thought of a welfare state and think drug testing should be the very minimum for ANYONE to receive help. I am a very, very right side voting one. I won't get into the other issues, but anyway. I will not vote for ANY politician that is even remotely anti gun. I wish you guys could see my local government and even the Sheriffs dept. We have quite a few Democrats that are still very Pro-2A. My sheriff is a hard nosed Democrat and friend. I understand most not knowing there are still a few Dems, that will fight for mostly the same thing as conservatives... Just please know there are some that are still fighting hard for the same things you are...

I am more of a Libertarian, but since my party changed years ago, I never changed my voter registration... I figure it hits harder when I meet with politicians and tell them my views and they look all puzzled.. And then they realize that not all Democrats think the same... They usually get a horrified look on their face when I open with I am a Democrat and I am disgusted with your stance on..<insert many topics here> btw I do this when talking to my Dem reps... Honestly the look on their faces is worth it.

Tell him that he lost your vote... There is absolutely NO REASON to sell out principles. I am disgusted with him (Manchin) and Giffords and those like them. It is perfectly fine to send men and women to fight and die in a god forsaken desert at the edge of the world to "protect our freedoms", but the second things get a bit dicey at home they give up.

Start saving money and get with the NRA and veterans groups and if they want to run ads with pictures of dead kids then we can run ads of soldiers from the revolution until now with the byline "These hero's fought and died for the freedoms you are pissing away..."

I suspect that in your heart you're still a Libertarian, instead of a Democrat, which was exactly my point....it's so common, in fact I bet if everyone who thinks of themselves as a Libertarian registered as one, it might actually be bigger than Republicans or Democrats, so many folks are ready for real hope and change, [and to bring this back on topic] after tommorow and the presidents 19 new proclamations, I bet there will be more.

I agree BHP, and 19 EO's should even convince the most hardcore person this is more than just a call for action, this is a personal attack on the rights of gun owners. I expect A LOT more nasty stuff from this current push. I am afraid we haven't seen anything yet... Only later today will show...

I believe the OP was speaking to ex-senator Manchin. Next election rolls around he is toast. People in W.V. love guns and have long memories.

I know, the way I should have phrased it was... " we will see who jump ship tomorrow and leaves us high and dry". I feel there will be quite a few that will say, "it really is for the children...". etc. we honestly will to know until the lines are drawn..

We must all stand together if we wish to win the pro gun argument. Divide and conquer is one of the antis tactics. Lets not do it to ourselves. We are not fighting Democrats, we are fighting anti gun politicians. They are in both parties. A Democrat is always anti gun and a republican isn't always pro gun.
