Hello everyone,
i want to get more serious in my ammo for my sks. So far i have only shot wolf steel case ammo.
Anyone have some other factory loaded ammo recommendations?
How about a varmint load? for coyotes, raccoons and such.
How about for deer hunting? I've seen winchester super x and remington express loads.
Anyone try the corbon loads? Worth the extra money?
I have a chinese SKS w/ pseudo folder stock, trigger job and C-more holosite.
Thanks!

I've shot the Winchester super x out of my Yugo with good results, and also the Wolf soft point.

However, for varmints, I would use Wolf FMJ out of my Yugo. It is the most accurate of any ammo I've tried (strange, huh?), and a good vital hit would take care of business.

sks ammo

buy whats cheap and shoot away every kind of ammo ive shot out of my 11 sks, s shot good just load then rock and roll have fun :)

I found this interesting, although it isn't a hunting load.
A good friend of mine is retired and has a lot of time on his hands. He spends this time seriously shooting; no shooting at beer cans, serious accuracy shooting at long range. One thing he concentrated on for awhile was trying to get an SKS to really shoot. He played around with every factory load he could lay his hands on, he handloaded for it, he tryed a half dozen or more SKSs, and also played with bedding them. When the smoke cleared, he found that the most accurate ammo he could find, including handloads, was a ammo called Cheetah.
I took his advice and bought some. I didn't conduct any extensive tests, but I feel it was noticeable more accurate in my Russian SKS than the two brands I had tried previously. I used my SKS with Cheetah in our local Vintage Semi-Auto match and ended up taking fifth place. I consider this to be a pretty decent accomplishment. You are at a disadvantage right from the start using the 7.62x39 cartridge in this match .
I am sold. I am going to buy several cases in the near future.

If you want cheetah ammo you had better snatch it up where ever you can because vector arms the importer is out and won't be importing any more. I still have a few hundred rounds of it left I'm trying to save for awhile. I have also had good luck with barnaul fmj ammo which for me almost as accurate. Mark
