Over a year ago I acquired a S&W K22 Outdoorsman/First Model made in 1938. On Saturday I acquired its older brother, documented by a 2003 letter, as having been made in 1937. The 4-screw infinitely adjustable rear sight is a bit cantankerous, but I got them to POA. Cool owning usable revolvers older than I am. (By a little bit.)

I need to learn more about Smith!

this is why we collect! to shoot and tell stories.

Stunning!

The M17 is perfection, though. :)

Thank you. I already have two 17s, and yes they are breathtaking. I'm just demonstrating that accurate .22s are desirable objects!! The actions on these two First Models are butter. The triggers are legendary glass rods. The shaky geezer with cataracts holding them is the reason that not all the bullets go through the same hole.

M48 no dash $1700+
M14 K38- Master Piece $900 to $1800
M16 holly grail gun $2500

S&W hurts my wallet! ouch

Choices, choices.

I don't think my firearms are going to depreciate.

Have you looked at the stock market recently? And I can fondle and shoot and clean my revolvers every day.

I could not indulge myself unless I was retired, so you whippersnappers have something to look forward to!!

44 and will be 45 at the end of the year, starting collecting last year, I’ll shoot any gun I collect, but some more carefully then others . I’ll probably buy 1-2 Smith this year. That M14 K-38 looks nice! and dang if I’m not a fan of .38! Would love to get a no lock M29!!

what’s the top quality .357 pre lock S&W?

Model 27 or 28. The 28 is the "Highway Patrolman", a somewhat less refined Model 27 intended for actual law enforcement use, and a bit less expensive. A bit.

I have both. Not likely to part with either.

Break your piggy bank and enjoy.

Thanks! I’ll go to my pusher and keep an eye open!

Either a M27 (Registered Magnum) or M586/686 depending on if you like fully lugged barrels. The 586/ 686 were considered competitors to the Colt Python, in a similarly medium-large frame. The M28 is a slightly plainer M27, prices are a bit lower.
