I attended a family reunion in western Arkansas yesterday.

An in-law brought some toys for me to see.

First, is a Colt in 38-40 that was made in 1902. The story with this one is great. It was found under the floorboards of a house that was being demolished in Hot Springs, AR. That's why it's pitted. It was put into a leather holster, stuck under the floor, and forgotten about for decades.

Owner has contacted Colt. Yes, this one will letter, and the letter is in process.

Second one is a Colt Bisley model in 32-20 that was made in 1907. Same owner. Nice.

Same owner also had a National Match 1911 from Colt with a serial number in the low 500s.

Egads.

Fun reunion.

VERY nice! I'm going to have to rip some floor boards up around here and see what I can find!!

The question that begs to be ask....."why would anyone hide pistols under the floor boards of a house?".....

a) used in a criminal act
b) stolen
c) didn't want the wife to find out he'd been to a gun show.
d) going through a divorce, died before he could retrieve them.
e) part of the Klan arsenal

My Grandad hid his revolver under a loose floor board in their bedroom when they went out for the day. For fear someone might break in and steal it. You have to remember a lot of old homes just had skeleton key locks..in other words just about everybody's used the same key...and my grandmother still had those types of locks on that house until she moved out in 1985!
