I'm always seeing threads where people say they eventually want to buy "X" rifle or pistol and admit I'm guilty of a little wishful thinking myself. So just for kicks I thought I'd throw out this question and see what people REALLY want.

Lets pretend you've been given an insane amount of money, something like $20,000,000 (just to remove any real purchase price cap), but you can only spend it on a single weapon.

It can be any weapon you want as long as it is legal to own as a civilian in this country. So that includes Class 3 if you have (or will get) a license.

It can be new or used. The money can also be used on any gunsmithing, accessories, scopes, stocks, trigger sets, bipods, stands, or anything else you want to put on your gun. It can also be used to buy or have made ammo. You can even have made a custom made one off gun that shoots custom ammo, as long as it's all legal in this country.

So functionally, any gun you want, thats ever been made, with any set up you want to shoot it with.

What would you buy?

When you titled it 'fantasy', I immediately thought of the AT-AT Walker, but then you had to go and define the parameters to be an actual weapon, legal in the USA.

Bummer. Oh well, I guess I'll go with the Dillon Aero M134DT.

Lucky me!:D

Sorry my friend, but that weapon isn't available for civilian purchase. Unless you can run down to the corner gun store and order one up I'm afraid your entry is invalid.

Try again. ;)

You said class 3, new or used. How is my choice outside those bounds?

A brand new class 3 (full auto) isn't available for civilian purchase, so your parameters conflict with themselves.

I stand by my choice.

I think it would be a toss up between a Thompson SMG and a Browning Automatic Rifle. . .

You conveniently skipped the "as long as it's legal to own as a civilian" portion of the outline. Obviously you can't purchase a brand new class 3 weapon, but you could buy a used one. That's why I threw that in there.

M777 Howitzer with 20,000 rounds of mixed proj/fuse and all tax stamps paid.

I have always wanted the Full-Size,Mini,and Micro Uzi. They don't even have to be full-auto. My Mac-11 and Steyr TMP/SPP have kept me satisfied in that category for now for now.

Three rifles that are really too exotic for me right now but i have always wanted in my collection are the Steyr Aug Bullpup ,the FN p90 Herstal, and the H&K G36/SL-8 but cant justify them due to price, practicality, commonness of parts, mags ammo, ect.

One thing i would like to fork out the money for in the future is an H&K MP5-K, then an original MP5.Talk about a good truck or nightstand gun.

In the full/auto world i would be quit happy with an M16/M4, Beretta 93R,and Glock 18 along with any of the above mentioned in FA.

I would hate to see the receipt for all that stuff.

Using the word fantasy, then new or used class 3, legal for civilian purchase... your parameters conflict with themselves.

In my fantasy, I can own a newly made full auto Gatling Gun of my choice.

Probably a 6" Mateba, though an MP-40 would be kind of neat.

I have low fantasies, given that in reality, I don't have a gun worth more then $400.

runrabbitrun: "Well since it's a fantasy. Can I have a star ship please? I like the way those proton torpedoes sound when they go off."

Not for a mere $20M. Building the proton accelerator alone would cost approximately two trillion dollars in 2009 money using 2009 technology. Fabricating a functional cesium drive using 2009 technology would take many years and untold trillions of dollars. You just don't build those things on this type of world.

My M777 Howitzer with mixed proj/fuse loads, on the other hand ...

Only one?

How bout a tank with full armarment?

If that were the case, I'm sure for 20,000,000 I can find a Panzer V...

Add any left over money to gas and ammo for the thing though...especially the gas...

N003K: "If that were the case, I'm sure for 20,000,000 I can find a Panzer V..."

Maybe. They're scarce in restorable condition.

But for $20M you could form an entire armored company of T-55s on the open market. Not too shabby even with the original 100mm main gun and HMGs. Importing them wouldn't exactly be a cinch, but with that kind of firepower you could carve out your own country in some parts of the world.

I've always wanted a full-auto Thompson SMG ... stick magazines, no drums, and no vertical foregrip :barf:.

I guess if I had to settle for a small arm, I'd accept the first musket fired by an American colonist at Lexington Green on 18 April 1775.
