Many thanks

I want to thank you all for your support of my husband. We have faced many who think our decision to become a MARINE family is foolish . Your words of wisdom and encouragement for him help me to feel more confident during our time of seperation. I have already used a few of your posts to remind him that there are countless men and women wishing him well.
Thank you!:)

Hey ... welcome Mrs Balog ... :)

Good to see you drop in .. now perhaps you can update us now and again - as to how he is gettin on.

You will have realized already - THR is somewhat of a family .. and we support one another and share all sorts .... it works well!

Come back soon.

:D Thank you for your warm welcome. I have noticed that everyone on THR is like family (maybe even better at times ).

I'm sure many people would like an update on John.
He is doing well despite a couple of setbacks. He has not received his military issue glasses, but his civilian glasses were taken from him at the end of his first week (8/20). He has also been diagnosed with pneumonia so he is working on healing right now. He continues to stay positive. I am starting to wonder which one of us is doing all the hard work. He is really enjoying all the things he is learning (no big surprise there). He was made for this type of thing. He's going to be an amazing MARINE!

As long as he gets the right glasses before 2nd phase..... Rifle Range!!! :D

Edited to add: The Drill Instructors tend to really chill out at the beginning of 2nd phase...noone wants their recruits all wound up and blowing the company average score. ;)

Tell him we're all pulling for him.

If he'd like some letters (which are big motivators in boot camp) let us know his address. With this big of a cheering section, he may get an "Ooh-Rah!" or two. :)

Requests for address

Thank you for wanting to write to John. He continues to say that the letters he receives are a lifeline and I know he'll appreciate any letters you all send. I promise to post his address as soon as I get it (it will change due to being in the Medical Rehabilitation Platoon to recover from pneumonia). I should have it in the next few days and will update you all when I get it. Thanks.:D

Tell those commies that a bunch of your well-armed, right-wing buddies don't take too kindly to such remarks!!! :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

And welcome to THR!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D

chosing to serve our nation...

Is the most admirable thing a person can do next to good parenting. I wish you both the best of luck. This is a dangerous time to make this choice and that is why it this decision deserves an extra helping of respect.

The USMC is the finest fighting force on earth.

Good Luck! -bevr

WRITE TO JOHN

PLEASE WRITE TO JOHN!!! He just found out he is going to be held in the Medical Rehabilitation Platoon until he can be seen by a neurologist due to a persistant headache over the past couple weeks. He can use any encouragement you can give. It is hard for him to be idle when all he wants is to get back to his training.

Here is his address:
Rec. Handley, John D.
36003 Midway Ave
STC/MRP3
San Diego, CA 92140

Thank you!

John, MrsB - if you're out there, I think it's time for an update!

I seem to recollect that John's graduation was supposed to be Dec 10th, and I bet all of us would like to hear the gory details...

Of course, you all might have more pressing things to do during John's all-too-short boot leave, so no hurry...

Kor - I had been wondering too.

I wrote John back in Sept and after a while had a very nice and lengthy reply ... all seemed to be going OK. I have since written again but have not heard back - not knowing for sure if the letter found him.

Hopefully once he is thru with it all and back home, he will get to posting here again.
