fbi arrest in WI

According to a news account (which may or may not be accurate) an FBI informant worked his way into the subject's confidence, and then offered to sell him machine guns(?) and a silencer. apparently the full-auto (whatever) was genuine. The buyer then returned to his car and opened the trunk to stow the weapons, at which point FBI agents appeared and arrested him.

Uncle Sam's attorneys may have to beat an entrapment defense. :uhoh:

They do it all the time. Find some poor disaffected schmuck and set him up with "explosives" and guns. Then they pull the plug and land him in jail. There was no actual "plot" other than the one the FBI cooked up.

The facts reported, if true, would indicate that he was actually in the final stages of planning the act.

A "poor disaffected schmuck" doesn't plot mass murder.

If you have evidence that this was entrapment then spill your source, otherwise it's just nonsense.

Guys, if you're going to tell us all about it, have some facts to back it up, not just your assumptions of what you think the government does.

And try, please, try to keep it related to the guns involved. Honestly, I don't know what possible actual facts we could have at this point ... and we're not good with conspiracy theories or wild guesses, so this might just not be ready for THR.

No one is going to buy a transferrable Machinegun for $20K + when they can make their own for less than $800 total.

Lots of people do. Not wanting to loose freedom or my anal virginity keep me on the straight and narrow when it comes to laws, despite how easy it would be to break them.

Take it in context. No one who is going to walk into a Masonic temple to shoot it up is going to buy a transferrable to do it with.

Oh, I agree. If you plan is to break the law your not going to worry about following them.

They also seem to not know much about firearms either. Guess they get their information from movies like the rest of the population.

"... each one has a weapon, each one has a silencer gun, the operation will be one hundred percent successful. I am telling you, to go without silencer gun, you will be exposed from the beginning."

All tho I am pretty right wing :) I thank G-d for the FBI keeping me safe by keeping an eye on these whack jobs who want to commit mayhem on us. As to the outlawing of FA weapons since 1986; well these misguided oafs who did it were voted in by the misguided oafs of the electorate . :(

My point to the thread was to question whether there are now 3 transferrable machine guns off the market because they are now evidence. Whether they were transferrable MGs the FBI planted or otherwise. Just curious as to exactly what the wannabe Jihadist had (or thought he had) when he was arrested. Maybe they were LE or military A4s?

As yet, I have not seen any detail about the weapons other than to generically refer to them as "Machine Guns". I assume that if the FBI supplied them, they have to actually be machine guns in order for the charges to stick.

I doubt the FBI is going to buy $75K worth of transferables off the market to set up a couple of "terrorists". They'd be post samples to keep it all above board on the books.

The FBI has plenty of firearms and they could use any of them in a "sting" operation. There is nothing about where the gun already in possession of an accomplice came from but the other guns were government property; they were not transferred and would not be transferred, so it is absurd to speculate on the "transferable" issue. (Maybe BATFE should arrest the FBI for violating the law by attempting to sell machineguns without an approved Form 4? C'mon, guys!!)

Jim

I wonder if the machine gun and silencer spin on this was the perp's idea or if it was suggested by the FBI agent supplying the arms? It seems awful convenient to be able to demonize silencers as evil terrorist tools given the recent actions of the administration at "fixing" non-existent problems with purchase of silencers.

Yup. My thoughts exactly.

Yep.. I'm sure one minute those guys were thanking allah they got so lucky hooking up with their new friend who turned them on to some goodies and the next minute they are thinking allah Dammit.

Can we please prosecute the dumdum who actually sold the gun too? If one is guilty of illegal purchase, another is guilty of illegal sale.
I gather that said dumdum was one of the FBI officers involved in taking him down and that sale was part of the arrest process.

I don't think law enforcement is going to start arresting the very agents doing the undercover work.
