Wow, I was shocked when I saw it there yesterday. Green ammo can, 420 rounds in stripper clips with the clip tool. $164.99.

I jumped on a can. They had three or four more lined up behind on the shelf. Would have bought more except I'm broke. That, and I was there to buy my boy a bike. I got to wheel the bike out with one hand and the ammo can in the other.

There was sales tax, but no shipping. From memory, the price seemed competitive. I tried to check online today, but everyone seems out. I'm a happy camper.

I picked up a can to sight my ACOG in this past weekend. Not sure about the stripper clips though. Good shooting ammo however, buying a few more cans next week!

If you don't mind too much and can find the time?

Edit your user profile so everyone else can tell what part of the world you are in where Walmart sells 5.56 ammo in green GI ammo cans??

In my part of the world, somebody at Walmart would probably stroke out while calling in a SWAT team of bomb disposial experts if a heavy green ammo can showed up on the loading dock!!

I'm with rcmodel. I'm lucky if my walmart has anything worth buying.

On a side note, I was in my local Academy Sports and found Federal .223 in the black boxes for $6.50 a box. The cheapest I've seen this stuff on line is $7 a box plus shipping.

I'm in mid Tennessee and our walmarts have Federal XM855 in ammo cans.

RC,

I think you are fairly close to me. The WalMart at 119th & Metcalf had 4 boxes left after my purchase yesterday afternoon.

Walmarts in southwestern NM are offering that same deal too.

I am impressed at some of your walsmarts for selection.

I think I get that same ammo at Academy Sports for around $8 a box.

Done.

.40/rd plus tax is a good price where you live?

Unfortunately, yes. With the main advantage of being available in my greedy little hand.

What's really ridiculous is that the same 420 can was $124.99 only 6 months ago.

Yep. I was so sore about it that I held off, only to watch the price keep climbing. I think the Cheaper Than Dirt price was in the $180s last time they had it.

In the interest of full disclosure I must tell ya'all I work P/T for
the-armory.com in the internet ammo dept (great retirement job) and in no way promoting as I dont like to work too hard but,
check out the prices. I think we gotWolf 223 polyformance is 129.99 for 500
I cant get you a discount but if you put "Docs friend from THR" in the order instruction box it will go to the top of the ship pile.

Still shocked walsmart carries such a quality relatively high priced gun. S&W M&P sport wouldn't surprise me.

Watch your lane.

My Wal Mart carries 100 round boxes of Federal 55gr FMJ ammo for $33.95. I usually picky up 3 or 4 whenever they get a shipment in. They never last long.

Question from a not so knowledgeable AR noob. Will this 62 gr shoot OK in my PSA 16 inch carbine 1 in 7 twist or should ! go heavier? I have been shooting rem .223 55 gr. Thanks in advance. deadeye

I don't consider 40¢ a round a good price for that, but I have gotten some decent ammo deals there. Just picked up 100 rounds of Federal 115 grain 9mm FMJs for $20 and have picked up a couple of good deals on other stuff as well as 12 gauge shells. Always worth perusing the ammo case while you are there.
