Feelings about highpoint pistol

I own the Hi-Point .45 acp. While it is ugly, it is also a good straight shooter and has never jammed. I bought it new in early 2012, for $159.

honestly i dont know why people are so down on hi points, theyre reliable and theyre accurate.. so theyre bulky and top heavy.. big deal, the accuracy, durability and reliability they bring to the table, the simplicity and few moving parts that is common with direct blowback weapons offer advantages that would make it a solid go-to duty/combat type of pistol

personally though for the size id probably rather just take an uzi pistol, or a mini mac 11 for those same features, but better construction

Hi, Kiln,

My apology for misunderstanding what you said about Hi-Point failures. You said that 90% of their failures were due to magazine problems, not that they had a 90% failure rate.

I have no way of checking the actual statement, but I was clearly wrong in my understanding of the post.

Jim
I'm mainly going by troubleshooting posts on the Hi Point forum. The 90% estimate is probably pretty close. The vast majority of the time someone pops up and says their Hi Point is jamming, the guys help them figure out how to diagnose the problem and usually it is the magazine.

I had a HiPoint 45 acp and was great but started getting slam fires when releasing the slide lock. I got rid of it after this for obvious reasons. It always went bang when you pulled the trigger though. They are big, heavy, and ugly as sin but its better than any lorcin, jennings, cobra etc.
