Been shooting for 20+ years, and I've owned handguns from (in alphabetical order) AMT, Beretta, Colt, Kahr, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Taurus. Never really had any interest in Glocks, though. I shot a first-gen G17 and a second-gen G23 on a couple of occasions several years ago, and frankly, neither of them impressed me. I didn't like the grips or the triggers on either of them. The G23 had some feeding problems, too... Could have just been the cheap ammo my friend was using, though. At any rate, I just never gave Glocks much thought after that.

Then recently I started reading about the G34. I was looking for (another) home defense handgun, and I liked the longer barrel (and accompanying longer sight radius), lighter trigger, extended magazine release, and extended slide lock. None for sale in my area, though. Still, I had a good feeling about it, and after finding virtually no bad reviews of the G34 online, I went ahead and had my local dealer order me a Gen-3 G34, sight unseen (at a decent price, too).

The new Glock came in on Friday, and after I slipped a Hogue grip onto it, the G34 just felt right in my (fairly large) hands. Then I took it to the range today. When my first round--offhand, from 20 feet--went straight through the "X" on a standard B21 target, I knew I had something special in my hands. I proceeded to put 60 147-gr. Speer Lawman and Gold Dot rounds into the target from 20 and 30 feet, with nothing outside the 9-ring, other than the 12-for-12 head shots I took. Zero malfunctions... Just flawless, right out of the box. I can hardly wait to see what I can do with this firearm once I get used to it and get some real practice time with it.

I'm sold. I think I have a new favorite pistol.

Yup. If you can get over the media and internet hype, they are truly unmatched weapons. Be careful though...you're going to start comparing the accuracy and reliability of your other handguns to your Glock and you may get a bit disappointed with your collection....

Happy for ya  Shoot the snot out of it

Stock,

Just bought a G23 third generation NIB. My first Glock. I have found absolutely nothing wrong with it. Fits my hand great, is light and shoots more accurately than I ever will be. Haven't had the chance to really wring it out, but so far it has been flawless.

Only had one failed to feed when my daughter shot it the first time. We cleared it and after I got her to firm her gun arm up it ran perfectly.

Even bought one of those 9mm conversion barrels from Lone Wolf. That and a 9mm Glock magazine run flawlessly in this gun too. I've ran about 100 40sw and about 200 9mm throught it with no problems. Totally happy customer. I hope to "shoot the snot out of it" like Joe said. :)

+1

I had a similar experience. I shot a Glock years ago, before I had a lot of experience with handguns. I wasn't that impressed, and eventually developed an aversion to them based on how popular they had become

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and I needed a handgun that would be easy for my wife to operate. She shoots my CZ-75 pretty well, but has a hard time working the slide. I've been watching Hickok45 (on YouTube) ringing a 24" gong seemingly effortlessly at 230 yards with his Glocks, and I found out that I can buy one at a nice discount as a volunteer fireman.

I haven't had it that long (a 19), but I'm really liking it. The Koolaid tastes quite good. I suspect I'll be picking up a 34 and 26 once the gun fund gets built back up. And I won't even have to buy new holsters!

Congrats. I think the 34 is easily the sexiest Glock, if there is such a thing.

And this thread is worthless without pictures!

I haven't been able to shoot mine yet but it's a used, LNIB Gen 4 G22 that I picked up for an astounding $175!!!

I am just amazed at how well it points, how natural the sights line up. It took me a while to get used to the grip angle but now it's hard for me to see how I could ever go back to shooting my Astra A-90

I've owned and shot pistols for over 30 years, and have never owned a Glock. I would like to get a G19 at some point though as it seems like one of the better all around beater 9MM's out there. I've shot a few Glocks, and never had a problem with the trigger, nor grip angle. I've always been accurate with them.

I'm a long-time 1911/HiPower person, very dedicated to that platform. A few months ago, feeling open-minded, I bought a Gen 3 Glock 23, and a couple of weeks later a Gen 3 Glock 19. Horror of horrors, I have hardly carried a 1911 since. I still love the 1911s, but here's the deal: the Glocks carry nearly twice the ammo, half the price, lighter to carry and with slighly shorter barrels conceal well despite the bulky shape of the slide. So far both of mine have been 100% reliable. I am forced to admit that there is something to the Glock.

Dang this open-minded stuff.

Glocks are boring, un-sexy pistols with pretty much zero personality and charm. You can't personalize them short of a little plastic clip for the rear of the slide that they make in a few different colors. They don't have the gravitas of cold blued steel and well worn wood. They're...Glocks.

But danged if I don't shoot my G21 better than any other handgun in my collection. Never a FTF, packs well in a quality holster, and will punch a ragged hole wherever I point it. I've only been into firearms for about 4 years, but I never thought I would be a Glock guy. I like unique, I have average hands, Glocks looked like they pointed like a black plastic brick.

Anytime I start doubting my Glocks, I just take them to the range and fall in love with them all over again.

I finally bought one (a Glock 17) a while back. I needed a backup for my M&P for USPSA and also wanted to just have something I could shoot GSSF matches with.

I've put a few hundred rounds through it. Its worked fine, and is reasonably accurate. I have to admit though that I'm still not feeling the "kool-aid". Don't get me wrong its a solid gun, but it has behaved no better or worse than many other guns I own or have shot. The M&P is slightly cheaper and just as good a gun IMHO. Heck I liked the Ruger SR9 quite a bit too and would recommend it much more often if they made a version without a thumb safety.

Basically, though I find nothing WRONG with my Glock, IMHO they're just another face in the crowd :). The only thing I really DO like is that there is a myriad of aftermarket parts for them. Can't say that I plan on doing much to mine (like I said I want to shoot it in GSSF so new sights and the connector from the Glock 34 is about the only work I plan on doing to it), but if you want to the options are there.

Well here is a Glock with some makeup on. It's a Talo G22 with EXO
finish on the slide:

My first Glock is a Gen 3 34 and it has been flawless. So much so I'm selling my XD 40 and my PX4 storm sc for a gen 4 19 and 26 to cover all my needs. Not sure how I drank the Kool Aid I guess it was my infatuation with the 34

Well, in the biker lingo, " shoot it like you stole it ".. I second alot of what's been said. They are great pistols and you will find you carry it more than your other firearms. At least I do, I dearly love my Colt and Kimber, but the G23 is on my belt. Also, you'll find you want one in every caliber and frame size. Plus it aggravates the Glock bashers..

Must be that media and internet hype that makes it feel like I'm holding a 2x4. Some PD's are replacing their Glocks with M&Ps just a FYI. Saying that they are unmatched is just fanboyism, how is it better than my XD? How is it better then a SIG, HK, S&W, Ruger, etc?

Give it up with the Glock Hate Crap. There is only one Glock and everything else is just a cheap imitation. Over 2/3 of LEO use Glock including the FBI. Glock is America's gun now!:neener:

Saying it's not unmatched is just antifanboyism. ;)

I have a G34 Gen 4. I have never shot a gun that comes back on target this fast. My G26 is a very close 2nd.
Congrats with the G34. Keep your thumb off the extended slide lock and you'll have no problems.

I just love small minds and the small thoughts that come out of them and the 1911 crowd of military junk owners!:barf:

Congrats. You'll love it even more when you find out how easy it is to detail strip, and how available every single factory part is.

You can build a Glock without even having a single part from Glock including the frame and slide.
