finally got my glock 19!

i'm sure everyone has seen a glock before, but i'm just too proud not to post pics had to order from the factory, seems like no local shops could get them in (not C models at least).

only thing i added were trijicon night sights, seem to work well enough. thanks for all the advice and help. if anyone has some good advice on a holster (for concealment but doesn't have to be IWB) i'll take it.

so after a couple months of debating with myself, here is my end vote on glock vs xd.

thanks! actually didn't take very long after i sent in the request, which surprised me because from what my normal dealer says, they are pretty backed up at the factory.

Mine took two or three months to arrive from the factory, probably because I ordered an OD 23, and I guess they make them in batches.

You should buy a Glock Sport/Combat holster, the cheap, flimsy looking one. They are fantastic, hold the gun tight to your side, have good retention and a nice draw, seriously they look like crap but they work very well. Bet the XD Gear holster doesn't work as well as this one. For IWB I also have a Comp-Tac MTAC, love it, thinking about trying out a CTAC with tax return money.

I was shoveling this afternoon wearing a white t-shirt and it concealed the 23 in the Glock holster perfectly. Can't do much better than that for an OWB and a compact pistol.

You made a good choice.
Holsters are tough though - you will get as many opinions as there are holsters. You should try before you buy as best you can. Barring that, you can't go wrong with Comp-Tac or Crossbreed holsters for concealment.

anybody have any experience with "fobus evolution paddle holsters"?http://www.fobusholster.com/catalog/Evolution_Series_Holsters-26-1.html they had one in the shop here. I think they look alright, but i'm brand new to holsters, so if they are a crap brand let me know... paddle holsters seem like they might not hold real still... this might be worth its own thread...

last question, and this will make me sound like i baby my guns (probably because i do), but are there holsters out there that aren't going to scratch my brand new shiny gun up?

If your Glock gets some markings on it, use an oiled cloth to rub them out. I can often rub marks off both of mine with just my finger. The Tennifer treatment that actually protects the gun is an exceptionally strong anti-corrosive, and the black finish they put on is also quite strong.
