Good afternoon,

I have a question regarding what happens to fingerprints once they come back as clean for an AZ CCW as well as a CA COE. Neither requires fingerprints again for renewal, and the FBI says if the requesting agency stipulates that the fingerprints should be deleted it deletes them after the background check comes in clean, but I haven't been able to find that information for the Arizona CCW or the California certificate of eligibility.

Thanks

Are you asking what happens to the physical card you turned in with your application?
No, I'm wondering what happens to the actual fingerprints, and yes the physical cards as well, but the actual digitalized fingerprints. Are they stored in the FBI's repository forever?

Yeah, that's what I figured. The FBI's official stance is that if the requesting agency, so AZ DOJ or CA DOJ, require that the submitted fingerprints be deleted they're destroyed immediately after the prints come back clean. However, since neither AZ nor CA require fingerprint submissions for renewals I figured the fingerprints must be stored.
