Taurus Millenium PT140 <hiding in shame>

I don’t see why. For many a first gun was purchased when young and little money was available. That was true for me. My first gun was a Rossi .38 Special. I had no QC issues with it and it worked flawlessly. This was 25 or so years ago and I don’t recall the model, perhaps an M31? In any event I sold it like a fool.

Don’t sell any of your guns, you’ll regret it. Or if you must sell it make sure it’s not the only caliber/kind of gun you have.

I hope next to get a 1911, not sure yet which one.

Your first should be a Colt. Trust me.

(it won’t be your last.) ;)

Ruger Super Blackhawk S&W 44 mags were impossible to get. Remember being scared to death about recoil etc, after first shot thought " This ain't the terror everyone said it would be"

A beautiful polished blue & walnut Browning Hi Power for me, almost 20 years ago now. I went in looking for a Colt 1911 but couldn't quite afford one. The helpful man behind the counter suggested that I might like the Hi Power which was a little less money and fired the more affordable to shoot 9mm cartridge.

He was a wise man :)

My first handgun was a High Standard revolver, "The Marhsal". It was a western style with a 9 shot swing out cylinder. I still have it today. My dad bought it for me at Howard's when I was about 12 or 13.

The first handgun that I BOUGHT was a Ruger .22 auto. I no longer have it.

I have 2 firsts so to speak. My first handgun was bought by my dad. It was a 6" Colt Python I carried many shifts as a security officer. The first handgun I bought on my own was a S&W model 28 Highway Patrolman that I carried on the same job after I had to send my Python in for repair. I still have both.

Mine was a S&W M19-4, which i bought from my cousin nearly twenty years ago, for $150. It was in excellent condition. I ended up giving it to my niece about a year an a half ago, after she bought a new house. She was already familiar with it and could shoot it well, plus I wanted her to have a good gun, so I just gave it to her.

Bought 2 the day I turned 21, a Colt Trooper MKIII blue 4" .357 and a Colt Combat Commander .45. Had both of them till about 2003 when financial troubles required parting with them.

My first was a Colt Python- dad was fond of reloading and thought we could load the .357 and .38's almost cheaper than the .22lr I still have that gun and like it. A 6 inch blue with a great trigger ;) My second was a smith model 41.. which I have shot in many a league and I still do shoot it a fair bit! The joys of workin and livin at home :D

Trouble is I started with quality and never have quit liking top end guns :D

S&W M&P (.38 special) revolver my dad bought used about 1932. The nickel plating looks a bit ratty, but it still shoots like a dream. I've had it for 30+ years.

East German Makarov.

I had taken a brief vacation to south Alabama and had stayed in a rough neighborhood. I felt like I wanted/needed a defensive weapon, and I was determined that I would not need a gun but not have one again.

After my return home, I stopped by the usual pawn shop where I had previously purchased several rifles (they had good prices). Being a college student at the time, I didn't have much money on hand. I had set a budget of $200. My reasonable choices in this range were a Norinco Tokarev in 9mm, or the 9x18 Makarov. I asked the guy at the shop which one he thought was better, and he told me he had no idea about either. Knowing little about either myself, I chose the Makarov because it seemed better made, as well as smaller (I intended on getting a concealed carry permit soon).

$180 later, I had (what I later found out to be) an East German Makarov. I made the right choice. It shoots very nicely.

My first handgun was a 44mag Redhawk and that same day I bought
another Redhawk and a Mark 1....still have the Mark 1 and wish I
still had one of the Redhawks.

My dad gave me a Ruger 22/45. Excellent first gun. After thousands of rounds it's still one of my favs.

My first purchase was a 2nd generation HS2000 (today's XD9). Think I paid about $250.

Rohm/RG 22. It was the best handgun ever made. Well maybe not. But I was proud of it. It had been my grandfathers, who gave it to my Dad, who gave it to me before I can even remember. I still have it, but haven't shot it for a while for some strange reason. :)
