i went shotgunning with my boyscout troop this weekend. we had to break 24 clays to qualify for the merit badge. we had three rounds, one to shoot 5 rounds to get comfy with the gun, and the 3rd and 4th to shoot 24 each to try to qualify. we were using a short youth model single barreled 20 guage shotgun that had no markings on it at all and no choke. first round i shot a round at the tree to get comfy with it and then i broke 3 of the 4 clays. i was the only person to break any clays at all on the first round!! second round i break 18 out of 24, now i am getting some respect. then as i go up for the last round, i see an 870 in the corner of my eye, and i ask if i can use it. instructor says yeah, you seem like you've shot before so il let you. then i go 6 for 6 to qualify. i think 24 out of 30 is pretty good, and if i had used the 870 for the whole time i am positive that i would have done better. mabey 27 out of thirty. i was also used as the poster boy for stance and how to hold the gun. he said it was perfect and i was becoming an acomplisher young shooter.
but how do i compare to some of you guys? if i am anywhere near as good as some of you guys, i just might go buy me a shotgun
