So, I got out the RCBS hand priming tool that came with the Rock Chucker Supreme kit.
I was a bit confused on how to get the shell holder in, so I watched some videos on line. I had to take out the black insert and put in the white insert because I am doing .223 that uses small primers. I put the rod in, flat side facing up.
I used these primers:
Federal Small Rifle #205.
I did ten .223 first to get a feel for it, then I moved to the 5.56 that had to have the primer pockets swaged. A few of those were a little stiff and I noticed a slight mark on the primer on a few. I learned that the shell holder didn't necessarily center the case and when I got a feel for when the case was centered I didn't see any more marks on the primer.
Then I finished off the .223 brass.
Things I learned:
The RCBS hand priming tool has to be setup for small or large primers. The black insert is for large, the white for small.
The RCBS Hand priming tool works very well, but the shell holder doesn't center the case, if you shove the case all the way to the back the pressing in the primer has to cause the case to slightly shift to center and it leaves a small mark on the primer.
Always pay attention which side is up on the box of primers. I had to find 10 off the floor.
