I have never shot competitively, never even been on a team of any kind but thanks to a post from another member which lead me to an event I have now decided to and am in the process of joining the North South Skirmish Association. This will involve dressing up like historical civil war units and shooting live ammunition with repro and original weapons of the civil war. It seems like a lot of fun and I'm real excited 😊 my weapon of choice to start out will be a repro 1853 Enfield .58 rifled 3 band musket by armi sport. Wish me luck everyone I can't wait to get started.

Sounds like a hoot! Good luck, go slow, be safe.
I'll try to be safe but idk about the go slow part on account of the object is you got 5 minutes to load and fire your musket to bust a bunch of clays on a bulletin board sized target frame. That's just one of the rounds but yeah it's gonna be fun. Combination of speed, precision, and accuracy with a lot of self discipline

That sounds like a fun competition

Get a few pictures of the event and share them.

Here are some of the recruitment skirmish I attended. Pictures are mostly of the artillery demonstration. By the way artillery, and I mean live ammo fire, is apart of competition. But there is also a photo of a real original smith carbine a member of the organization competes with or at least used to I think he's retired now acts as a CO exclusively IMG_20240309_135304476.jpg IMG_20240309_131737817.jpg IMG_20240309_131042758.jpg IMG_20240309_095226866.jpg

Dude, that’s a cool bunch of people to hang out with, especially when they break out the artillery
