Five AR carbines in one shop indicate a cooling off?

Either five or six in .223 were in the pawn shop on Hwy 45 in West Point MS today.
One was priced about $900 or so.

Along with the AK-74 clone, all of these had been there at least since Friday.

They still have several 1-lb. bottles of H-4895 powder, plus Varget, along with some 380 and types I'm not familiar with.
The point about the powder was that the familiar bottles all seemed to be listed with pre-panic prices.

Depending on the population of the town this would be normal I would say, if in a large city they would have been gone, most likely on Saturday.

There a was a mess of lowers at the show on Saturday.

There is definitely a cool off. There is high demand for AR/AK mags at normal prices, but little demand otherwise. Lots of sellers.

Ammo is still absent for the many common calibers.

lowers, uppers, bcgs all are coming in stock at different places. For the most part, this is following the same price trajectory as 2009

The panic buying on firearms is starting to cool off. The supplies are still behind, but they are coming back. The people who were panic buying them have made their purchases. But, of course now there is very little ammo

AR's are regularly in stock at my LGS and back down to the $700-$800 range for Stags/DPMS/etc. If we just relax and not hoard ammo will come back that much quicker.

What's the point of buying an overpriced AR when you can't buy any ammo to shoot it?

That being said, the sub $1000 AR is back, and I believe I even saw one on a deal site for under $800 in stock. As little interest as I have in acquiring another caliber, I may be persuaded to get one if the prices fall just a little more.

I predict there will be some great deals this summer as the guys who expected to buy 5 or 6 ARs around my town and turn them quick need to start paying bills, because if you look on Armslist here, ARs are still selling way above msrp, but they are listing more frequently and ever so slightly starting to drop prices. Also one person has multiple AR listings.

I was just pursuing gunbroker and it seems a lot of used guns are trying to sell for more than NIB of the same thing.

My local Cabelas always seems to have a few ARs, not so much in ammo though. One of the local small shops has ammo and some "evil" guns on consignment.

There were two Colt AR's in a local Wal-Mart.
One priced at $1047 (same as before the panic), and the other was around $1400, I think it was a SOCOM model or something like that. Not sure of its pricing before.

I imagine they're both gone now, since it was 2 am when I saw them. Ammo case was still pretty empty for the most part, though. Did see six boxes of Tula 7.62x39 in there a few weeks ago with pre-panic pricing. It was also very early morning when I saw them.

Also saw one of those Beretta carbines in there for around $800. First time seeing one in a Wal-Mart.
