Springfield Armory manufactured carbine receivers??
Springfield Armory did manufacture some limited Carbine parts and was involved in the overhaul project after WWII but never had anything to do with manufacture of receivers that I know of.
Where do you get your information? I am willing to learn if you have a accurate source of info

Now I am curious. When did Springfield Armory (the government factory) produce M1 carbines or receivers for them? How were they marked? What was the serial number range? If Springfield didn't assemble them, who did? Why would SA tool up to produce a few receivers when they were being made by the hundreds of thousands by contractors?

Most important, can anyone provide good pictures of the SA carbine receivers and the markings?

Jim

Jim,
Springfield didnt ,unless there is info out there to prove it. I will admit I'm wrong if the poster can prove it

The OP was referring to an M1A made by the current SAI. The carbine in question has to be a current SAI product as the original SA never made carbines. Willie linked the carbine we have to be talking about because no others exist.

As I said, it's a SAI carbine with the same serial number as the OP's M1A, which could be possible. Look at the link.
