What method do you guys use to prevent warping of a forearm when the barrel is free floated? Thanks & God Bless.

well, you are going to want to seal the wood on the inside of the stock, if its a wood stock. this should help prevent humidity from swelling the wood and causing warping.

For other materials, .050 to .075 clearance all the way around should be enogh to keep the stock off the barrel, and that's all you really need.

I usually do it in conjunction with glass bedding. When done then, I have routed a channel in the bottom of the barrel channel, and glass in a section of carbon fiber arrow shaft, or broken CF fishing rod butt section.
The carbon fiber is stronger then steel when it comes to resisting bending.

Steel all-thread can also be used if you want to add weight.

In general though that's probably overkill.
If you paint a thinned layer of AcraGlas in the barrel channel after you free-float it, it seals it against moisture really well.

Thanks guys for the advice. I've used finish of one kind or the other but never considered AcraGlas.
